15N Avionics Mechanic

The communications system, navigation, and flight controls are just a few examples of the dozens of electrical systems that help pilots keep aircraft safely in flight. As an Avionics Mechanic in the Army National Guard, you will make sure these systems and instruments operate properly.Through training and practice, you will learn how to perform maintenance on tactical communications-security, navigation, and flight control equipment. In the Army National Guard, you will learn these valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance.Job training for an Avionics Mechanic consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and 25 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, including practice in repairing electrical systems. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field.
