The Baker is responsible for preparing and baking a variety of breads, desserts, and baked goods for residents, patients, staff, and visitors in a healthcare or senior living setting. This role ensures high-quality food production while following dietary guidelines, sanitation standards, and food safety regulations. The Baker supports the organization’s commitment to nutrition, hospitality, and resident/patient-centered care.Position Type and Expected Hours of WorkThis is an hourly non-exempt position, with expected hours to include: days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.Essential Functions And DutiesPrepare and bake breads, rolls, muffins, cookies, cakes, pies, and other baked goods according to standardized recipes and production schedules. Modify recipes as necessary to accommodate therapeutic diets, including diabetic-friendly, low-sodium, allergen-restricted, and texture-modified diets. Accurately measure and mix ingredients using proper baking techniques and commercial kitchen equipment. Ensure appropriate portion control, consistent product quality, and attractive presentation. Monitor oven temperatures and baking times to maintain quality, safety, and consistency. Label, date, and properly store baked goods and ingredients in accordance with food safety and sanitation standards. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the baking area, equipment, and utensils in compliance with health regulations and infection control procedures. Perform assigned cleaning duties according to established schedules and departmental standards. Adhere to all defined safety codes and infection control procedures at all times. Assist with receiving, inspecting, and properly storing food and supplies in accordance with established guidelines. Report supply shortages, equipment malfunctions, and maintenance needs according to established procedures. Maintain knowledge of and comply with all applicable federal, state, and facility regulations, as well as Culinary Services Department and account-specific policies. Understand and follow the facility’s fire safety, emergency preparedness, and disaster response plans during drills and actual emergencies. Perform additional departmental duties or special assignments as directed by management.
