General responsibilities include but are not limited to the followingPerforming all aspects of electrical engineering design as a lead engineer, including Conceptual Studies, Program Requirements, Design Analyses, Calculations, Equipment selection and layout, and System selection and layout for building design and site electrical utilitiesMeeting with clients (internal and external) to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of servicesDirecting and supervising the work of EIT's or Designers assigned to the project, particularly where engineering judgment on the part of the EIT/Designer is exercised and unusual or difficult problems are encounteredObtain guidance from senior engineers and the Department Head as necessary to resolve technical and coordination issues and conflicting criteriaComplying with the Company's quality control policies and proceduresProviding and supervising electrical support services during the bidding process, i.e., preparing addenda and amendments as requiredPerforming and supervising electrical construction phase services including representing the firm on-site, answering RFI's, reviewing shop drawings, and preparing record drawingsWorking with, responding to, and taking direction from Project Managers, Managing Principals, Design Principals, Department Directors, Department Head, and senior managementParticipate in team meetings and coordinating efforts with other team membersDirecting, supervising and training junior electrical staff as directedMentoring and monitoring the professional development of junior electrical staffAbility to prepare effective and concise documents and correspondence.Ability to make effective presentations to a variety of groupsHave a can-do attitude with a desire to provide outstanding professional servicesBe dedicated to his or her professional development as well as the success of colleagues and the firm as a wholeBe dedicated to the advancement of the engineering professionProficient in MS Office SoftwareProficient in discipline specific design softwareGraduate of an ABET-accredited 4 or 5-year engineering program in one of the following disciplines: Electrical Engineering (Building design or power distribution focus), Electrical Engineering Technology (Building design or power distribution focus), Architectural Engineering (Electrical Engineering focus), or Architectural Engineering Technology (Electrical Engineering focus)7 years or more of significant design and practice experience in a leadership role with a Electrical Engineering firm or a multi-discipline Architectural & Engineering firm with substantial knowledge of applicable energy codes and standardsMust be a fully licensed Professional Engineer in at least one US state, preferably in the local jurisdictionPrevious experience with wireless communications projects will be given additional consideration for Electrical Engineers assigned to our Wireless Communications divisionAdditional certifications such as CDT, CCS, or CCCA are encouraged to reflect personal growth in the profession and an ever increasing knowledge base to enhance the design and documentation processPreferred ExperienceUnderstanding of sustainable design principles and design practices with LEED AP accreditation preferredStrong experience in the design of building power distribution, lighting, communications and security systems is desirableExperience as a lead designer or Electrical Engineer in federal, state, municipal, healthcare, commercial, higher education or similar projects plus experience in Design/Build and CM at Risk project delivery methods is desirableCertified Energy Manager (CEM), Registered Communication Distribution Designer (RCDD), or Certified Lighting Efficiency Professional (CLEP), certifications are desirableActive participation in IEEE, IES or other related professional organizations is desirableWorking ConditionsAt JMT, we prioritize a healthy work/life balance and offer a flexible hybrid working schedule. JMT offers a hybrid work schedule. The selected candidate is expected to work in a JMT office location at least three days per week or as needed to perform assigned duties.
