Job Title: Manufacturing SpecialistWork Location: Middlesex County, MassachusettsSummary:The Manufacturing Specialist will play a key role in supporting additive manufacturing operations, focusing on Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) technology. This position involves hands-on work with advanced manufacturing equipment, process documentation, and collaboration with engineering teams to ensure high-quality production and continuous improvement.Responsibilities:Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot LPBF printers, ensuring optimal performance for both development and production needs.Prepare and execute print jobs, including build setup, file preparation, and parameter selection using specialized printer software.Accurately execute print builds to meet project timelines and quality standards for internal and external stakeholders.Assist with installation, qualification, and validation of printers, including execution and documentation of IQ, SAT, OQ, and PQ activities.Support scaling up of production by enabling application demonstrations and qualification runs on LPBF systems.Monitor print quality, identify and escalate issues related to machine performance, materials, or process parameters as needed.Maintain thorough records and documentation to ensure traceability and support ongoing process improvements.Collaborate with engineering teams to refine workflows, optimize materials, and enhance print parameters for efficiency and quality.Qualifications:Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience.2+ years of experience in additive manufacturing, advanced manufacturing, or a hands-on production environment.Familiarity with 3D printing or additive manufacturing concepts; experience with LPBF is advantageous.Proficiency with technical software tools and ability to follow detailed work instructions.Strong attention to detail, disciplined documentation practices, and ability to execute repeatable processes.Willingness to work hands-on with complex manufacturing equipment and learn new technologies.Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.Hands-on experience with metal additive manufacturing systems (such as EOS, SLM, Renishaw, or similar) is preferred.Exposure to printer qualification, validation, or regulated manufacturing environments is a plus.Basic understanding of print parameters, materials behavior, or post-processing workflows is beneficial.Experience supporting applications development, prototyping, or early production builds is desirable.Interest in pursuing a long-term career in additive manufacturing and advanced production technologies.
