In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining our Python-based automation software that supports the production of solid rocket motor propellant. You will own significant portions of our software stack, from initial design to deployment, ensuring our systems are efficient, reliable, and scalable. Collaboration is key in this position; you will work closely with controls engineers, roboticists, and product designers to deliver high-quality features that meet our operational needs. As we continue to scale our operations, you will have the opportunity to influence the technical direction of the team, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.QualificationsMinimum of 5+ years of professional experience with Python, demonstrating deep knowledge of the language and its ecosystem.Proven track record of building, deploying, and maintaining production-grade software systems.Strong familiarity with APIs, Linux development environments, and modern software development practices including version control (git), CI/CD pipelines, and testing frameworks.Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn—thrives in fast-paced startup environments.Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.Bonus points for experience with industrial controls such as PLCs, SCADA systems, and OPC UA protocols.Hands-on experience with robotics tools like ROS/ROS2 or MoveIT is highly desirable.Background in automation, manufacturing, or robotics is a plus.Experience with Python GUI frameworks such as NiceGUI or Reflex is advantageous.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain core components of our Python automation stack, ensuring robustness and scalability.Build process automation and control software that directly supports our rocket propellant production facilities.Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams including controls engineers, roboticists, and product designers to deliver integrated solutions.Implement and maintain APIs, control interfaces, and integration points with industrial hardware and software systems.Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment processes to uphold high-quality standards.Contribute to shaping the team's technical roadmap and best practices as the company grows.Mentor junior team members, sharing knowledge and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously enhance our systems and processes.BenefitsX-Bow Systems offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support our employees' well-being and professional growth.
