Job Description & Requirements Specialty: OR - Operating Room Discipline: RN Start Date: 04/20/2026 Duration: 9 weeks 40 hours per week Shift: 8 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Days, 5x8hrs Hours: 40 hrs/wk Start Date: Apr 20, 2026 Length: 9 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a travel assignment at a Magnet-designated, Level II trauma teaching hospital in Illinois, requiring a minimum of 2 years of OR experience with specialized vascular, ophthalmology, and general surgery skills. Details Acute care hospital setting with a 16-room OR suite (1:1 ratio) Day shift schedule: 5x8 hours (0700–1530) 9-week contract Call is pre-assigned by the coordinator; full-time staff expected to take 1–2 call shifts per week, with vascular call experience required Weekend requirement: 2–3 weekend days per 8-week schedule Holiday coverage: travelers may opt to pick up a holiday call assignment or fill scheduling gaps as needed Charting performed in Epic Scrubs are provided by the facility Free on-site employee parking available Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction Requirements Active IL RN license required; pending licensure not accepted BLS required; CNOR preferred Minimum 2 years of OR experience required Vascular OR experience required, including vascular call coverage Ophthalmology OR experience required (scrubbing and circulating) General surgery OR experience required CVOR and Hybrid OR experience preferred DaVinci Robotic surgery experience preferred Required surgical case experience: endoscopic/laparoscopic, general, ophthalmology, urology, and vascular procedures Required vascular skills: AAA repair, aortocaval/aortoenteric fistula repair, AV fistula repair, AV malformation surgery, atherectomy, carotid angioplasty/stenting, carotid endarterectomy, EVAR, femoral-popliteal bypass, renal artery bypass, scrub vascular, TEVAR, and vein stripping Required general surgery skills: appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical), laparoscopic-assisted procedures, scrub general surgery, and partial/total thyroidectomy Required ophthalmology skills: cataract extraction/implant, eye trauma, glaucoma surgery, vitrectomy, and scrub ophthalmology surgery Required urology skills: cystoscopy Trauma amputation experience required Required equipment experience: electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources/cords Required professional skills: blood product administration, cardiac monitoring, infection control, laser safety, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, and Universal Protocol (time-out) procedure 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration Additional Information Level II trauma center and Magnet-designated teaching hospital with 173 staffed beds First-time travelers are not accepted for this position RTO requests should be submitted upfront; ideally no more than 5 days requested for the contract duration American Traveler Job ID P-688015.
