Remote IT Technician – Role Description & QualificationsWe are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Remote IT Technician to provide technical support, troubleshoot technology issues, and ensure the reliable operation of IT systems and services. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to resolve problems efficiently while delivering exceptional user support in a remote environment.The Remote IT Technician will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, network, and system-related issues through remote support tools and communication channels. This role requires strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and the capability to manage multiple support requests while maintaining high service standards and customer satisfaction.Key Responsibilities:Provide remote technical support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, software applications, and network-related issues.Troubleshoot and resolve user-reported technical problems efficiently and professionally.Install, configure, update, and maintain software, operating systems, and security applications.Manage user accounts, passwords, permissions, and access rights.Assist with network connectivity, VPN access, email systems, and cloud-based services.Monitor system performance and identify potential issues proactively.Document support requests, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions within ticketing systems.Perform routine maintenance, system updates, backups, and security checks.Support cybersecurity awareness and assist in implementing security best practices.Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve complex technical issues.Required Skills & Competencies:Strong knowledge of Windows, macOS, and common business software applications.Understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and wireless networks.Experience with remote support tools and help desk platforms.Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Strong verbal and written communication abilities.Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.Strong organizational and time management skills.Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple support requests simultaneously.Professionalism, patience, and a customer-service-oriented mindset.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Network Administration, or a related field.Previous experience in IT support, technical support, help desk operations, system administration, or network support is an advantage.Familiarity with cloud platforms, endpoint management solutions, ticketing systems, cybersecurity practices, and remote monitoring tools is beneficial.Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, Cisco, or equivalent certifications are considered an asset.The ideal Remote IT Technician is dependable, technically proficient, and solution-oriented, capable of delivering high-quality remote support while maintaining secure, reliable, and efficient technology environments that enhance user productivity and support organizational success.
