Lead Java DeveloperGreenwood Village, COWho We Are:Excelacom is a global consulting and technology solutions firm solving client's complex business and technology challenges through a mix of consulting expertise, telecom-focused software, and managed services within the communications and media industries.Who You Are:We are seeking a Lead Full Stack Software Engineer to support a client mobile engineering organization responsible for backend platforms, device management services, and customer-facing systems that power a large-scale mobile experience. You will drive development of mission-critical mobile platform services, including device lifecycle management, provisioning, mobile account systems, and carrier integrations. You will work in an agile team environment where professional respect and communication are key, applying modern mobile and cloud technologies while serving as a creative problem solver, technical authority, and resource for the team.As a Consultant, you'll contribute to client engagements by delivering insights, building deliverables, and leading workstreams. You'll be expected to bring strong analytical thinking, and a proactive mindset to solve client problems and drive transformation.Role and Responsibilities:You may work on various projects throughout your career with Excelacom. The roles and responsibilities noted below pertain to the specific role listed above.Lead engineering delivery across shifting priorities, mentoring team members and driving accountability, collaboration, and technical directionDesign, build, test, and support scalable full-stack services for mobile device provisioning, activation, account management, and carrier integrationsDevelop clean, extensible Java/Spring Boot services and modern web applications using Angular or React, REST APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, Kafka, and AWSOwn solution architecture and technical designs, troubleshoot complex distributed-system issues, and support integrations across internal and carrier platformsApply Agile, paired programming, test-driven development, CI/CD, and production support best practices to deliver reliable, high-quality solutionsCollaborate with engineering, product, scrum, and project teams to translate requirements into effective technical solutions and document key learningsEvaluate and champion AI/ML capabilities and AI-powered development tools to improve platform features, engineering productivity, testing, and operationsWork closely with clients to identify process improvementsAnalyze business challenges and recommend technology-driven solutionsSupport system development, integration, and testing activitiesDevelop presentations, deliverables, and implementation plansAssist with proposals and business development effortsRequired Qualifications:10+ years of software development experience, including 8+ years with Java, 5+ years with Spring Boot, and 5+ years leading development teamsExpertise in Java/Spring Boot and modern front-end development using Angular 2+ or ReactJS, HTML, TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js, and CSSStrong experience with REST/web services, SQL (MySQL/Postgres), NoSQL (DynamoDB/MongoDB/Neo4J), Kafka, and JPA/Hibernate3+ years of AWS cloud development experience, including server/serverless architectures, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD practicesExperience designing and supporting large-scale, highly available enterprise applications, including automated testing and test-driven developmentStrong knowledge of software architecture, OO design, concurrency, data structures, algorithms, performance, and reliability best practicesDemonstrated technical leadership, communication, conflict resolution, mentoring, and ability to guide teams through ambiguity and complex architectural decisions1+ years of experience with AI-powered development tools or AI/ML integrationBachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science or related fieldPrior consulting experience – in an agile environment – with a leading strategy firm, consulting practice, or consulting technology firmProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)Strong verbal and written communication skillsPreferred Qualifications:Experience with mobile carrier systems, device provisioning APIs, telecom/MVNO integrations, and mobile device lifecycle concepts including SIM/eSIM managementExperience using AI coding assistants and integrating AI/ML services such as AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, OpenAI, or Hugging FaceFamiliarity with generative AI use cases for code quality, test automation, data analysis, anomaly detection, workflow optimization, and AIOpsAbility to evaluate AI tools and frameworks and lead practical adoption across an engineering teamMaster's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferredPrior experience in Telecommunications, Media, or Cable is highly preferredPast success in generating new business with existing clientsGood time management and collaboration skillsCompensation and Benefits:Excelacom offers competitive salaries, health and wellness benefits, 401(k), paid time off, and career growth opportunities.
