Overview
In this role you will apply your structural design expertise to commercial and state/federal projects, focusing on concrete and steel systems. You will work within a collaborative team to ensure safe, code-compliant designs and clear documentation for permitting. You will engage with architects, contractors, and clients on design and construction phases, contributing to project schedules and mentoring junior staff. This opportunity combines hands-on technical work with professional growth in a Los Angeles–area environment.

ResponsibilitiesPerform structural analysis and design for concrete and steel building systems (beams, columns, walls, slabs, foundations)Prepare calculations, reports, and design documents for permitting and constructionDevelop and review construction drawings with architects and consultantsEnsure designs meet IBC, ACI, AISC, ASCE 7, CBC/CRC and local requirements; prepare submittals for reviewsCoordinate with project teams, contractors, and clients to resolve technical issuesProvide construction phase support: submittals, RFIs, site visits, and observationsManage tasks, schedules, deliverables, and client communicationsMentor junior engineers and engineers-in-training, fostering collaboration and professionalism
Key requirementsCA PE licensure3+ years of professional structural engineering experience (Associate level) with hands-on design of concrete and steel systemsProven experience with structural analysis/design software (ETABS, SAP2000, RISA, STAAD) and drafting/BIM tools (AutoCAD, Revit)Strong knowledge of concrete/steel design codes (ACI, AISC, ASCE 7, IBC)Excellent technical writing, verbal communication, and coordination skills; ability to work in multidisciplinary teamsExperience preparing construction documents, specifications, and calculation packages for permittingAbility to perform site visits and resolve field-related design issuesNice-to-have: Licensed PE, CA DSA experience, timber design, CA codes familiarityStrong communicationTeam collaborationProblem solvingETABSSAP2000RISA
