Senior Structural Engineer - LA28
Overview:
In this Senior Structural Engineer role, you will support diverse projects across entertainment, commercial, industrial, government, detention, and parking structures with a focus on seismic design, retrofits, and advanced analysis. You'll work within the Building+ Places group to deliver technically sound, code-compliant designs while mentoring junior engineers. You'll lead moderately sized projects, coordinating with other disciplines and providing authoritative design decisions. Responsibilities:
- Perform structural analysis and design
- Coordinate work with other design disciplines and prepare contract documents
- Construction administration
- Author structural reports, assessments, and studies
- Lead or independently handle moderately sized structural design projects and tasks
- Mentor and provide guidance to entry level engineers
Key requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with 6 years of experience or demonstrated equivalencyUS Citizenship due to federal contract/security requirements
- Master of Science (structural concentration) is preferred
- Professional License in California (SE) is preferred
- Demonstrated experience with major structural design codes (IBC, CBC, ASCE 7) and 3-D analysis software (ETABS, SAP, RISA, RAM, SAFE)
- Experience with wind and seismic lateral design and retrofit of existing structures
- Experience across steel, concrete, masonry, and timber; performance-based design and ASCE 41 is desirable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
