Instructional Aide
Employment Term (days): 187 Primary Purpose:Assist teachers and campus staff in preparing and managing classroom activities and administrative requirements. Work under the supervision of a certified teacher or campus administrator to support student learning and promote a safe, productive classroom environment.Qualifications:Education/Certification:High school diploma or GEDValid Texas educational aide certificateMeets ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) criteria by:Completion of two years of study at an institution of higher education; orPossession of an associate degree (or higher); orSuccessful completion of an approved paraprofessional assessment Special Knowledge/Skills:Ability to work well with childrenAbility to communicate effectively with students and adultsStrong organizational and interpersonal skills Experience:Experience working with children preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties:Instructional SupportAssist teacher/administrator in preparing instructional materials, classroom displays, and learning activities.Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups.Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.Help maintain a neat, orderly, and positive classroom environment.Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of materials, supplies, and equipment.Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.Help the teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.Perform other instructional support duties as assigned. Student ManagementHelp supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duties.Maintain discipline in the absence of the teacher according to established classroom rules and campus policies.Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students. OtherParticipate in staff development training programs to improve job performance and enhance skills.Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.Perform other duties as assigned.
