Diesel Generator Technician

My client is searching for a Diesel Generator Technician with a background in Cummins engines for the Decatur TX area. Requirements are:Core Responsibilities:Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing on diesel generators and associated equipmentDiagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system issues in generator unitsRepair or replace defective components such as injectors, fuel systems, alternators, starters, and control panelsConduct load bank testing and performance evaluationsInstall, commission, and start up new generator systemsTroubleshoot automatic transfer switches (ATS) and paralleling switchgear systemsMaintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and work ordersEnsure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company proceduresTechnical Skills:Strong knowledge of diesel engines (e.g., fuel systems, cooling systems, lubrication)Experience with electrical systems (AC/DC circuits, wiring, voltage regulation)Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manualsFamiliarity with major generator brands (e.g., Cummins, Caterpillar, Kohler)Proficiency using diagnostic tools, multimeters, and load testing equipmentExperience Requirements:3–10+ years of experience working with diesel generators or heavy equipmentExperience in field service, emergency repairs, and on-site troubleshooting preferredBackground in industrial, construction, oil & gas, or power generation environments is a plusCertifications (Preferred but not always required):OEM certifications (e.g., Cummins, CAT, Kohler)Electrical or mechanical trade certificationOSHA safety trainingPhysical & Work Conditions:Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor or industrial environmentsWillingness to travel to job sites and respond to emergency service callsComfortable working in varying weather conditions and on-call schedulesSoft Skills:Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilitiesGood communication with customers and internal teamsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionTime management and organizational skills
