Staff Software Engineer, Labs
Overview:
In this role you provide technical leadership on high-impact projects and coach a distributed engineering team. You will align goals across teams, manage priorities and deliverables, and drive the design, development, testing, deployment, and evolution of large-scale software solutions. You'll contribute to Google's mission by building impactful products and enabling scalable, reliable systems. This role sits in Labs, a unit dedicated to incubating new ideas that extend core products and capabilities. Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership on critical projects
- Coach and align a distributed engineering team across goals, outcomes, and timelines
- Prioritize, plan, and manage deliverables and deadlines
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large-scale software solutions
Key requirements:
Bachelor in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience 8 years programming experience in C++, Java, or Python 5 years testing and launching software products 3 years in software design and architecture Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred)8 years experience with data structures/algorithms 3 years in a technical leadership role 3 years in cross-functional or cross-business project experienceleadershipcoaching and mentoringcross-functional collaborationC++, Java, or Pythonsoftware design and architecturedata structures and algorithms
