This is not a traditional bookkeeping role; it is a systems-building, process-owning, close-managing position for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment. The Controller manages the accounting team, including onshore staff, an AR function, and offshore resources. This role is the connective tissue between Finance’s operational integrity and the company’s growth ambitions, ensuring the books are clean, the systems are scalable, and the data is trustworthy.This individual will spearhead the evolution of our financial infrastructure, focusing on the seamless integration of billing systems and the elimination of manual operational gaps. Your primary mandate is to build and maintain the definitive ‘Source of Truth’ for the organization, a scalable data framework that provides the executive team with the reliable metrics and performance insights necessary to navigate our next phase of growth.Responsibilities:Close Management & Financial ReportingOwn the month-end close process end-to-end, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and continuous improvement in close cycle efficiency across all accounting functions.Prepare and deliver comprehensive financial reports including business unit-level P&L packages, management reporting, and budget versus actuals analysis for executive and cross-functional stakeholders.Ensure compliance with GAAP across all financial reporting, including proper revenue recognition under ASC 606, accrual accounting, and rigorous balance sheet management.Oversee accounts receivable, customer billing operations, and data cleanliness across financial reporting systems, ensuring accuracy and integrity of all transactional and reporting data.Monitor financial performance on an ongoing basis, identifying trends, surfacing risks proactively, and translating financial data into actionable operational insights for leadership.Billing Systems & Revenue IntegrityCo-lead the Chargebee to AppDirect billing migration through to completion (in collaboration with the internal operations team), serving as Finance’s technical owner and risk-mitigator, not a passive participant.Audit and resolve automation breaks where billing is not triggering correctly, eliminating revenue leaks systematically.Assist with defining workflows from Finance-owned billing operations, establishing clear policies, controls, and handoff points. Establish and maintain the “Bible of Metrics”, a centralized, real-time reporting framework covering recurring revenue by segment, churn, future revenue, and other key financial indicators.Financial Systems Architecture & ImplementationServe as Finance’s technical lead across key financial platforms, with primary ownership of NetSuite and leadership of Finance’s participation in major system implementations including NetSuite ARM, AppDirect, Paycom, and other platforms as applicable.Manage ongoing financial systems optimization, ensuring platforms are configured to support accurate reporting, efficient close processes, and scalable financial operations.Partner with Operations and Technology teams on cross-functional system integration initiatives, ensuring Finance’s requirements are reflected in platform design and implementation decisions.Team Leadership & DevelopmentLead, manage, and develop the accounting team, including onshore staff (Staff Accountant, AR Lead, AR Clerks) and offshore resources, building a high-performance, collaborative environment with clear expectations and ongoing coaching.Set performance standards, provide regular feedback, and support professional development of accounting team members, ensuring the team has the skills and capacity to support the business’s growth trajectory.Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement within the Finance & Accounting function.Audit, Compliance & Internal ControlsCoordinate and manage the external audit process, ensuring audit readiness, timely delivery of supporting schedules, and clean financial statement presentation throughout the audit lifecycle.Manage banking relationships and serve as the primary Finance point of contact for external financial stakeholders, including lenders, auditors, and financial partners.Maintain, strengthen, and continuously improve internal financial policies, controls, and procedures as TrustedTech scales, ensuring the control environment keeps pace with business growth and complexity.Required Skills & Qualifications (must-haves):6+ years of progressive experience in accounting or controller roles, with demonstrated end-to-end ownership of close processes and financial reporting.Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred.Proven experience leading billing systems migration or major ERP implementation, not just as a user, but as the Finance owner responsible for accuracy and go-live (experience with Chargeebee and AppDirect are highly preferred). Strong technical accounting foundation including GAAP, ASC 606 revenue recognition, financial statement preparation, and balance sheet management.Hands-on NetSuite experience is required, including systems configuration and reporting; experience with AppDirect or similar billing platforms strongly preferred.Experience leading distributed accounting teams, including offshore or outsourced resources, in a remote-first or hybrid environment.Track record of building processes, policies, and controls in fast-scaling environments, comfortable operating without a complete playbook, and capable of writing one.Proven ability to push back constructively on Sales-driven billing requests while still finding solutions that work for the customer and the business.High degree of discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information.Preferred Skills & Qualifications (nice-to-haves):CPA certification, or active progress toward licensure.Experience in a SaaS, cloud services, technology, or Microsoft partner environment with familiarity with subscription-based revenue models and recurring billing complexity.Experience managing external auditor relationships and supporting full financial statement audits end-to-end.Familiarity with PE-backed, investor-reporting, or lender-covenant compliance environments.Experience partnering with a Head of Finance or CFO-level leader, contributing operational Finance outputs to support strategic financial planning.Comfort in a founder-led, high-velocity organization where priorities shift, urgency is real, and operational discipline has to be built alongside business growth.Working Environment & Compensation Details:Type: Onsite (Irvine, CA); Monday - FridayWorking hours: 6:00 am to 3:00 pm PT OR 7:00 am to 4:00 pm PTCompensation Range: $190K - $210K (*DOE )Benefits:- 100% employer-paid base medical coverage: HMO (CA) | PPO (out-of-state)- Dental and vision coverage- 401(k) with 4% company match (fully vested)- Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays- Paid parental leave- Voluntary benefits (STD*, life/AD&D, accident, critical illness, hospital)- Employee Assistance Program (EAP)- Pet discount plans- Microsoft reimbursement program(*Short-term Disability available for employees outside California)*TrustedTech is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, veteran status, disability, sexual orientation/gender identity, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.*
