NCDOT - PowerBuilder Developer/Programmer - SeniorLocation: RemoteClient: State of NCThe North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is seeking experienced PowerBuilder contractor developers (>5 years experience) for a 12-month engagement for the Engineering Application Services Department (EAS) to enhance and maintain a mission-critical application called HiCAMS.HiCAMS is a custom, client-server, PowerBuilder application used to track work, materials and payments on North Carolina Division of Highways Construction projects.The initial assignments will be to code/test data windows to replace over 100 sample test result spreadsheet formats that were coded using an outdated 3rd party software tool. Additional work will involve coding/testing bug fixes and other functional enhancements to the system.This individual should have experience with standard development life cycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, unit & system testing, quality assurance testing as well as experience with business process transformation. Design SharePoint and web-based solutions to support Preconstruction and Scoping business processes that are valuable to the transportation lifecycle.Required Skills: (5+ years)Experience as a PowerBuilder developer using PB10 or more recent versions.Strong SQL skills (HiCAMS uses a Sybase database but SQL skills in any database platform are acceptable)Strong Microsoft Suite experience, particularly ExcelExperience working in a remote software development environmentStrong analytical, conceptual, and technical skillsPositive interpersonal skills coupled with an independent, self-motivated work ethicAbility to work with a custom base-classProven written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain business processes to IT users and IT applications to business usersPreferred Skills:Development experience in C#Development experience in JavaExperience coding stored procedures and triggers (any database)Experience developing in a Visual Studio environmentData conversion experience
