For more information, please visit https://mamascreations.com.The Assistant Controller supports the integrity, accuracy, and operational effectiveness of the Company’s accounting and financial reporting functions across the enterprise. This role partners closely with Finance and Operations leadership to support timely financial reporting, manufacturing accounting, inventory oversight, audit readiness, and internal controls while helping drive operational discipline, accountability, and financial stewardship across the organization. As Mama’s continues to evolve into a larger enterprise organization, the Assistant Controller plays a critical role in strengthening scalable financial infrastructure, improving operational visibility, and supporting disciplined business decision-making. This role is expected to demonstrate Mama’s commitment to craftsmanship through accuracy, attention to detail, and pride in high-quality financial reporting; honor our heritage through integrity, accountability, and responsible financial stewardship; and nurture relationships through collaborative partnership, clear communication, and support across Finance, Operations, and leadership teams.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely, accurate, and audit-ready financial reportingPrepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting workpapersSupport preparation of internal and external financial reporting packagesAssist with the preparation and review of SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q and 10-KHelp maintain compliance with GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and Company accounting policiesSupport manufacturing accounting processes including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuationAnalyze production variances and operational financial trends to support improved plant performance and cost controlAssist in Bill of Materials (BOM) reconciliation and cost accuracy initiativesPartner cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, and Procurement to support financial and operational alignmentOversee and support inventory accounting activities across multiple manufacturing locationsMonitor cycle count programs, inventory reconciliations, valuation accuracy, and inventory controlsSupport visibility into operational KPIs and financial performance drivers at the line and plant levelAssist with identifying process improvement opportunities related to inventory accuracy, reporting, and operational efficiencyCoordinate and support external audit activities and audit readiness initiativesAssist with strengthening financial controls, documentation, and compliance processesSupport ERP and financial systems initiatives, enhancements, and reporting capabilitiesPartner with Finance leadership to improve reporting accuracy, scalability, and operational visibilityMaintain organized, accurate, and compliant financial records and supporting documentationSupport, mentor, and collaborate with accounting team members and cross-functional business partnersTranslate financial and operational data into actionable insights for non-financial leadersFoster a culture of accountability, operational discipline, teamwork, and continuous improvementDemonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, discretion, and strong business partnership capabilitiesQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance requiredCPA designation strongly preferred5–10 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experiencePrior public accounting experience strongly preferred, specifically auditing SEC manufacturing clientsExperience supporting manufacturing or food production environments preferredStrong understanding of financial reporting, GAAP, internal controls, and manufacturing accountingExperience working with ERP systems; NetSuite experience preferredKnowledge of SEC reporting processes; Workiva experience preferredAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis toolsEssential Physical RequirementsAbility to remain stationary and work at a computer for extended periods of timeAbility to frequently use hands and fingers for computer, keyboard, and office equipment operationAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writingAbility to review detailed financial information with strong attention to accuracy and detailAbility to occasionally move throughout office and manufacturing environmentsAbility to occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 poundsAbility to travel periodically between Company locations, as neededAbility to work in both office and manufacturing environments, including exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and production activity
