Platform Engineer – Data Platforms (Redis Focus)
Overview:
We are seeking a Contract Platform Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team supporting enterprise-wide data and caching platforms. This role focuses on building, maintaining, and optimizing Redis-based caching services and related infrastructure across virtualized and Kubernetes environments. The ideal candidate will have experience with Linux systems, automation, container platforms, and distributed caching technologies, with the ability to contribute to scalable, resilient, and high-performance solutions. This position works closely with engineering, architecture, and operations teams to support enterprise platform initiatives, improve operational efficiency, and ensure reliable delivery of shared data services across multiple applications and business units.
Key Responsibilities:
- Platform Engineering & Operations
- Support the deployment, administration, and maintenance of Redis and distributed caching services across VM and Kubernetes environments
- Install, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Redis instances and related platform components
- Deploy and manage Kubernetes workloads using Helm charts and container orchestration best practices
- Execute operational runbooks for patching, upgrades, maintenance, and incident response activities
- Monitor infrastructure, application, and cache performance while responding to alerts and operational issues
- Maintain system documentation, operational procedures, troubleshooting guides, and support materials
- Automation & Infrastructure
- Contribute to infrastructure automation efforts using Ansible, Bash, Python, or similar scripting tools
- Assist in improving operational processes, deployment consistency, and platform reliability
- Support implementation of enterprise-wide technical solutions and infrastructure standards
- Participate in defining and maintaining standardized reference architectures for platform services and technologies
- Solution Delivery & Technical Leadership
- Collaborate with engineering, architecture, and application teams to integrate platform solutions into customer environments
- Support technical research, discovery, planning, and implementation activities for complex infrastructure solutions
- Assist in troubleshooting application, platform, and caching-related performance issues
- Contribute to risk assessments, remediation planning, and technical solution documentation
- Participate in architecture reviews and ensure alignment with established enterprise standards
- Mentor junior team members and contribute knowledge-sharing across the team
- Stakeholder & Business Support
- Partner with internal teams and stakeholders to support platform strategy and operational objectives
- Assist with technical presentations, solution planning, and cross-functional collaboration efforts
- Support operational excellence initiatives and continuous process improvement activities
- Ensure adherence to organizational standards, workflows, documentation requirements, and governance processes
Basic Qualifications:
- Foundational knowledge of Linux system administration
- Experience working with virtual machines and server environments
- Basic understanding of Kubernetes concepts including pods, services, deployments, and containers
- Exposure to automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash or Python
- Understanding of caching concepts including key-value stores, cache invalidation, and performance optimization
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Redis or similar in-memory caching technologies
- Experience deploying and managing workloads in Kubernetes using Helm
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tools
- Understanding of scalability, resiliency, and performance tuning concepts
- Exposure to enterprise platform engineering or distributed systems environments
- Relevant certifications, coursework, or internship experience in IT infrastructure, cloud engineering, or software engineering
