We bring precision and curiosity to everything we build, combining deep ownership with a product mindset to help shape the future of finance.What You'll DoThe Financial Reporting Manager will manage all aspects of our financial reporting processes. The primary responsibility involves the preparation and distribution of financials in line with internal management reporting format and GAAP standards. You are responsible for maintaining the integrity of our financial records as well as developing reporting processes that scale as Brex evolves and matures. You will work cross functionally within a detail-oriented environment where creative problem solving is highly valued. The Financial Reporting Manager is expected to manage multiple priorities concurrently without compromising quality, accuracy or completeness.Where Youll WorkThis role will be based in our New York office. We are a hybrid environment that combines the energy and connections of being in the office with the benefits and flexibility of working from home. We currently require a minimum of two coordinated days in the office per week, Wednesday and Thursday. Starting February 2, 2026, we will require three days per week in the office - Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. As a perk, we also have up to four weeks per year of fully remote work!ResponsibilitiesLead the monthly, quarterly and annual preparation of consolidated and entity-only financial statements for internal and external useManage various reporting for regulated entities, ensuring the highest level of compliance with the regulatory reporting requirementsAct as the subject matter expert, evaluate complex, non-routine transactions and provide technical accounting guidance and disclosure recommendationsStay current on FASB pronouncements and proactively assess impact to the Company in partnership with business stakeholdersIterate and develop GAAP accounting policies and support high-impact business initiatives such as post-merger integration and product launchesAct as the primary accounting stakeholder for Business Systems initiatives, ensuring that ERP configurations and mapping logics are maintained appropriatelyDesign and implement controls over financial reporting, including identifying control objectives, mapping risks, and determining appropriate control activities across the close and reporting cycleCreate sustainable, repeatable and scalable processes, including the review and update of process documentationPlay a strategic role and serve as the primary liaison between accounting, finance, and the broader business organization for new initiatives and projectsEnsure timely close through the preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations and variance analytics, as well as coordination with FP&AIdentify and deliver process improvements via automation, AI initiatives and cross functional collaborationRequirementsCPA license6+ years of public accounting or private industry experienceStrong technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge in US GAAPEffective verbal, listening, and written communication skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and address difficult situations in a professional mannerInnovative and able to provide "outside of the box" solutionsPassion for having an owner's mentality towards responsibilities and for career growthExperience implementing and improving business processes and systemsStrong interpersonal skills and ability to manage deadlines effectivelyProficient in Microsoft Excel and Google SheetsBonus PointsA combination of public accounting and private industry experienceRelevant experience in credit card/payment processingKnowledge and experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude and/or Google GeminiKnowledge and experience using NetSuite, Looker and/or other data visualization/ automation softwareKnowledge and experience using DFIN, Workiva or similar financial reporting platformsCompensationThe expected salary range for this role is $131,000- $163,000. However, the starting base pay will depend on several factors, including the candidate's location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
