Postgres Engineer Phoenix, AZ (Remote to start and Onsite after 6 months)6 months Contract to HireRequired Skills:PostgresAutomation: ansible or pythonUnix command lineCloud (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure)Yugabyte is preferred, but not required.This client is happy to train on the job, presuming the candidate has similar knowledge of other databases such as Google Spanner, Cassandra, Postgres and/or Oracle.Position Overview:100% daily hands on development with PostgresNeed someone with automation experience in ansible or pythonThe candidate will bring solid knowledge of DBMS concepts such as ACID, CAP and consistency.The ideal candidate will have experience with enterprise-scale Yugabyte deployments, including intra- and inter-data-center high availability configurations, fault tolerance and failover, replication, cluster management, automated cluster provisioning, rolling upgrade techniques, backup & restoration techniques, security mechanisms, health monitoring and alerting techniques, and troubleshooting.The candidate will also bring knowledge of Yugabyte internals such as sharding and replication settings, and performance tuning.Required Skills:5+ years of experienceSkilled at the Unix command lineThe ability to write code or script, e.g. for test harnesses or other database-related tools and utilitiesExperience as a database administrator and/or a Unix system administratorKnowledge of virtualization and cloud infrastructures, and of implementations such as VMWare, OpenShift, Kubernetes and DockerKnowledge of AWS, Google Cloud, Azure or other public cloud offeringsKnowledge of modern storage and compute technologies, including hyper-converged infrastructuresBachelors degree preferredYugabyte experience is a huge plus, but not required. (We recognize that Yugabyte is a relatively new database technology, and that there may not be many candidates with extensive knowledge of Yugabyte. Were happy to train on the job, presuming the candidate has similar knowledge of other databases such as Google Spanner, Cassandra, Postgres and/or Oracle).
