Java Software Engineer

Job Title: Java Backend Developer (Performance & Load Testing)Location: Alpharetta, GA (Local candidates required for an on-site interview)Position SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Java Backend Developer with deep expertise in performance engineering and load testing to join our team in Alpharetta, GA. In this role, you will read, debug, and refactor code across multiple Java versions, optimize database performance, and ensure high availability across distributed systems. The ideal candidate thrives on algorithmic thinking, memory and CPU optimization, and root-cause analysis for enterprise applications serving large user bases.Key ResponsibilitiesCode Optimization & Maintenance: Read, debug, and refactor existing backend codebases written in Java 8, 11, 17, and 21.Performance & Load Testing: Design and execute load-testing strategies using tools like JMeter to evaluate system stability and bottleneck boundaries.Database Optimization: Manage, tune, and optimize SQL database interactions, leveraging indexes, connection pooling, and lock management.Troubleshooting & Triage: Perform root-cause analysis, read system logs, and run profiling tools (YourKit or equivalent) to resolve CPU spikes, memory leaks, and concurrency bottlenecks.Distributed Systems Architecture: Architect and maintain reliable backend components operating across load balancers, container orchestration systems (Kubernetes), and distributed networks.System Efficiency: Apply sound data structures, algorithms, and Big O analysis to solve complex latency and throughput challenges.Qualifications & Key RequirementsJava Proficiency: Deep hands-on experience with Java development, with the ability to navigate legacy and modern versions (Java 8 through Java 21).Concurrency & Multi-Threading: Expert understanding of multi-threading, thread safety, locks, and concurrent programming patterns.Database Management: Advanced knowledge of SQL optimization, execution plans, indexing strategies, and connection pooling.Performance Profiling & Testing: Demonstrated experience using profiling tools (JMeter, YourKit, or similar) to triage issues and conduct load testing strategies.Distributed Systems & Containers: Experience building and deploying microservices with Docker, Kubernetes, and load-balanced network architectures.Caching Mechanisms: Hands-on experience working with caching frameworks like Redis.Algorithmic Problem Solving: Strong grasp of time and space complexity (Big O notation) with proven ability to prevent and resolve memory leaks.Scale Experience: Prior experience supporting high-throughput applications with a large active user base is strongly preferred.Work Location & Interview ProcessWork Arrangement: Hybrid out of Alpharetta, GA.Hiring Requirement: Must be local to the area and available for an on-site interview.
