In this role, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day operations, wastewater/water treatment plant equipment, pump stations and performs related work as required. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that compliance and production targets are met under the direct guidance of the Shift Leads and the Operations Supervisor, and with general guidance from the Chief Plant Operator.#ourjacobs #bia #omfs #challengeacceptedEssential Duties And ResponsibilitiesOperates and monitors Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems; revises equipment settings as appropriate; notifies supervisor of unusual situations and makes inspections or corrects system problems as necessaryMonitors plant operations equipment and processes to ensure compliance with environmental and public health standards, including monitoring and making adjustments as needed to optimize efficiency, making chemical dosage changes, changing pumping rates, and monitoring all equipment dailyReads, records, and calculates readings of meters and gauges; interprets information into operational characteristics; makes process adjustments according to information gathered, samples collected, readings, and recordsMakes visual inspections of plant operations and ensure that operational problems have been located and correctedInspects, cleans, and maintains pumps, motors, valves, filters, meters, and related equipmentPerforms required preventive maintenance and repairsCollects a variety of samples for laboratory tests and performs basic laboratory tests and analysesOperates valves, pumps, and automated controls to regulate the flow of wastewater through the systemOperates and maintains a variety of hand and power tools and equipment related to work assignment as instructedPerforms a variety of general and ground maintenance activities around plant facilitiesMaintains work areas in a clean and orderly condition, including securing equipment at the close of the workdayResponds to complaints and answers questions from public or escalates to supervisor, as necessaryAccepts deliveries and handles other known hazardous chemicalsResponds to operations, maintenance, and repair emergency situations as required; ensures power to plant facilities during emergency power conditionsMaintains records and logs of daily activities; prepares reports as necessaryObserves safe work methods and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as requireMonitors cogeneration facilityPerforms other job-related duties as assignedHere's what you'll need Experience Two (2) years of full-time, paid work experience equivalent to that gained as a Water/Wastewater Operator Certificate Possession of a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certificate issued by the State of California, State Water Resources Control Board License Possession of a valid Class “C” driver's license, or equivalentApplicants must meet the minimum qualifications and filing requirements for this position by the filing deadline A copy of the required certificate(s) issued from the State of California, State Water Resources Control Board must be submitted with your application or your application will NOT be accepted Mechanical experience desired.Working ConditionsSafety is a core value at Jacobs.
