Optician

Our office is seeking an optician with sales experience and we are willing to train. We are a well established optometry office and are looking for a team player to join our small office family. We pride ourselves in our desire to provide the best care and service to our patients. Applicant must have a pleasant demeanor, be able to multi task, have a strong work ethic, and be able to connect genuinely with our longtime patients. Responsibilities include: Verifying patient insurance and explaining insurance benefit to patient Billing medical and vision insurances, submitting lab orders Assist patients with frame styling, advise patients about lens options based on individual patient visual needs, fit eyewear to patients, take optical measurements, neutralize prescriptions, perform glasses repair, troubleshoot problems Become proficient in use of practice software (Eyefinity) Check in spectacle orders, verifying glasses are made to specification, and informing patients when orders are ready or delayed Maintaining inventory Assist with answering phone calls, greeting patients, and scheduling appointments Address any patient concerns with patience and a caring attitude. Basic Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred Optical dispensing experience Strong customer service skills: good verbal communication skills, active listener, patience, ability to resolve problems and diffuse conflict to ensure patient satisfaction Strong basic math skills Professional appearance and demeanor Punctual, able to arrive at work on time Responsibilities: - Assist customers in selecting and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses based on their prescription and personal preferences - Take accurate measurements of customers' eyes and facial features to ensure proper fit of eyewear - Educate customers on lens options, coatings, and frame styles that best suit their needs - Adjust and repair eyewear as needed - Maintain inventory of eyewear, contact lenses, and accessories - Process orders and handle payment transactions - Provide exceptional customer service and address any concerns or questions Qualifications: - Minimum 1 year previous experience as an optician or in a similar role - Strong knowledge of optical products, lens options, and frame styles - Familiarity with medical billing procedures related to vision care services - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with customers and colleagues - Detail-oriented with the ability to accurately measure and fit eyewear - Knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to the eye is a plus - Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment - Sales experience in a retail setting is beneficial Note: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
