Fractional Head of IT – Healthcare
Key Responsibilities• Provide hands-on IT leadership and execution support for approved roadmap initiatives• Coordinate and hold MSP, application, development, and technology vendors accountable• Support Microsoft 365, identity and access management, Teams, SharePoint, and related cleanup efforts• Track open IT issues, key decisions, project tasks, owners, and due dates to ensure execution discipline• Drive security and compliance improvements including MFA, endpoint protection, backups, access controls, and user lifecycle management• Support IT governance cadence, including steering committee updates and executive reporting• Partner with vendors in an agile environment to clarify priorities, manage backlog visibility, track sprint progress, and escalate blockers• Translate business needs into clear IT action plans and ensure follow-through to completion• Escalate risks, blockers, and decisions requiring executive inputRequired Experience• Proven IT leadership experience within a healthcare environment• Experience operating in an agile development environment alongside vendor partners• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and cloud-based SaaS platforms• Demonstrated experience managing MSPs, development vendors, application vendors, and internal stakeholders• Ability to operate at both a strategic and hands-on level• Strong project execution, communication, and follow-up disciplinePreferred Experience• Experience within a clinical research organization (CRO)• Exposure to multi-site healthcare operations• Experience in a private equity-backed or high-growth environment• Familiarity with HIPAA, PHI, and broader security, compliance, and access control frameworksEngagement Details• Time Commitment: Up to 80 hours per month• Schedule: Fractional / part-time• Work Model: Primarily remote, with occasional meetings as neededPositioning • This is not a help desk role, but a fractional IT leadership position focused on driving execution and accountability • Ideal for a leader who can bring structure, coordinate across vendors, and ensure technology priorities are delivered effectively • Requires mature judgment, strong organization, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-moving environment
