Library/Media Assistant AideJOB STATUS: OPEN POSTING DATE: 04/30/2026 CLOSING DATE: 05/13/2026 04:00 PM POSTING NUMBER: 053283 LOCATION: Grand Oaks High School - 016 POSITION TITLE: Library/Media Assistant Aide JOB DESCRIPTION:To assist Librarians with general library functioning and assist students and teachers in library usage.DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:Process new booksAccess and clear fines and lost library booksOverdue noticesReport Card holdsLaminatingTrain, supervise and grade student aidesTrain and supervise adult volunteersWithdraw studentsKeep daily statistics on computerType book, supply and periodical ordersType bindery ordersType bibliographies on computerType letters for guest author, memorial and thank you notesType appreciation certificatesMaintain time machinesPull books for displays and for teachersTake back money box at the end of each dayType monthly schedules on computerType hold list of students who have over-duesType book orders on computerAssist in Teacher Resource CenterGet and send out get well cardsAssist in inventory of books, and hardware in library and departmentsClean and straighten AV roomCollect and roll money for Kodak copierCheck library record on students withdrawingTake overdue book fines and lost book moneyType purchase orders, book orders, lists, letters, and formsFile catalog cards in card catalogCheck card catalog - book ordersAnswer phone and take messagesClean and straighten officesMake change for students and teachersAttend workshops for the computer and the library in generalRepair booksCheck in and out booksInventory booksAttend computer workshopsMiscellaneous computer workAssist in setting school goalsType computer manualsOther duties as assignedRegular attendanceMaintain confidentiality EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years of experience in a library QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification:High School Diploma or GEDSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Excellent communication skillsGood computer skillsKnowledge of AV equipmentExcellent organizational skillsAbility to work well with children CONTACT INFORMATION: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environment Factors: Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data; maintain emotional control under stress.
