Swan StreetCity AlbanyStateNYZip Code12210Duties Description The New York State Office of Indigent Legal Services (ILS) seeks to hire a Litigation Resource Attorney for the Statewide Appellate Support Center at ILS in Albany, New York. The Center helps fulfill the agency's statutory mission to improve the quality of representation offered by attorneys providing mandated criminal and Family Court defense statewide. The Litigation Resource Attorney will help develop statewide initiatives by creating supportive resources and training. They will also provide individual consultation services to improve mandated representation with an emphasis on helping trial-level providers. The Litigation Resource Attorney will also work collaboratively with other units within ILS to ensure the broadest impact of new initiatives.Minimum Qualifications Admission to the New York State bar and two years of experience in the practice of law subsequent to Bar admission.Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years' experience in criminal defense trial level practice with some appellate or post-conviction experience; a commitment to improving mandated representation statewide; excellent written and oral communication skills and a collegial and collaborative approach to team projects. Experience in representation in Family Court matters is also desirable.NOTE: IN ORDER TO AWARD THE PROPER CREDIT FOR WORK EXPERIENCE, RESUMES MUST INCLUDE MONTH AND YEAR FOR START AND END DATES.
