Controller – Finance & ProcurementLocation: Scotts Valley, CA 95066 (100% onsite)Salary: $110,000 - $130,000 + Benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401k match, PTO, and more)Details: Full-Time, Direct HireOur client, a mission-driven nonprofit and learning destination, is seeking a hands-on Controller to oversee financial operations and support procurement within a small, collaborative, hospitality-oriented team environment. This role is highly interactive and requires someone who is comfortable working cross-functionally and stepping in where needed, beyond core accounting responsibilities. You will play a key part in maintaining financial health while partnering across departments to support the organization's goals. You'll work closely with leadership and have the opportunity to take ownership of the finance function, with initialtraining and transition support provided.Overview:• Hands-on Controller overseeing full-cycle accounting (reporting, budgeting, cash flow, audits)• Supporting procurement and vendor management as part of the role• Small, collaborative, hospitality-oriented environment requiring someone who is flexible, team-oriented, comfortable wearing multiple hats, and willing to step in wherever needed• Strong technical foundation, with the ability to work cross-functionally and interact well with others• Play a key role in improving, standardizing, and scaling financial and operational processes within a growing organization• Opportunity to transition into full ownership of the function with initial training and support• Hospitality-oriented environment requiring occasional schedule flexibility during retreat or peak operational periods• HR and payroll experience is a strong plusWhat You'll Do• Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting• Prepare financial statements and ensure GAAP compliance• Oversee cash flow, AP/AR, and reconciliations• Support audits and maintain accurate financial records• Improve and help standardize financial processes, internal controls, and operational workflows• Partner with leadership to monitor performance and identify opportunities• Support a variety of operational and team needs as they arise in a small, hands-on environmentProcurement Responsibilities• Manage vendor relationships and contract negotiations• Support procurement strategy and cost optimization• Monitor inventory and coordinate supply needs• Ensure compliance with procurement policiesWhat We're Looking For• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field• 3+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or procurement• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting• Experience with AP/AR, cash management, and general ledger• Experience in HR, preferred• Experience in payroll, preferred• Proficiency in MS Office (advanced Excel); preferred: NetSuite, Adobe Creative Cloud, type 50 WPM• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally• Flexible, team-oriented mindset with a willingness to be hands-on and engaged beyond the deskFull job description available upon request
