Technical and Trade SchoolsCommercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment (except Automotive and Electronic) Repair and MaintenancePrivate HouseholdsScheduled Air TransportationCommercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment Rental and LeasingMaintenance Mechanic - AshevilleReports to: Maintenance LeadSupervises: N/ASummary Statement: Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Lead and guidance of the Plant Manager, the employee in this position maintains and supports all physical structures and mechanical operations following all established work and safety procedures.Essential Job FunctionsPerform scheduled, unscheduled, routine and preventive maintenance on industrial sewing machines as well as on all plant equipment, including industrial sewing machines.Perform routine inspections on all plant equipment.Diagnose mechanical problems, determining and carrying out corrective action.Perform facility maintenance on required projects involving electrical wiring, plumbing, physical structures, and fixtures that are within the employee's scope of knowledge.Complete production related, physical plant related, and property related construction, maintenance, refurbishing and installation of new equipment.Work jointly with the Trainer to design/improve any machine, workstation, or fixtures that will allow a visually impaired person to perform a task.Provide backup for Utility Person - Maintenance. Marginal Job FunctionsAssist other personnel as time and knowledge permit.Participate in training and meetings as requested.Perform other duties as assigned. Working ConditionsMust be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop and turn for a minimum of 10 hours per day.Must be able to lift 50 pounds and carry for a minimum of 20 feet.Must be able to work both scheduled and unscheduled overtime.Must wear steel toed shoes. Skills, Knowledge, and AbilitiesMust be able to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions.Must be able to hear and discern by sound equipment malfunctions.Must be able to work professionally as part of a team with other department employees.Must be able to perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workloads.Must be able to comprehend and perform duties using established work and safety procedures.
