JOB SUMMARY: This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for leading the accurate accounting and reporting of the financial figures of the Company, including joint ventures. This position will be a collaborative, hands-on position, and the selected person will lead and develop the accounting team, providing opportunities for career growth within the Company. Critical to success is the ability to efficiently execute the financial accounting and reporting processes of the Company with a desire to achieve continuous improvement.PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead the timely execution of the month-end, quarter-end and yearly closing processes and related reporting, financial analysis, job costing, budgeting, and forecasting.Oversee the accounting operations, including billing, accounts payable and payroll.Collaborate with and manage the relationship with 3rd party payroll vendor.Work directly with the Operations Group (Project Managers, Estimators and Project Engineers) to forecast projects, develop and report on KPI’sEnsure the integrity of the balance sheet by establishing the appropriate processes and controlsPrepare various management reports using the Sage 300 CRE ERP system and Microsoft ExcelWork directly with the CFO on projects as neededResearch technical accounting .Work closely with the CFO and Project Management on all corporate accounting and financial reporting matters.Develop, implement and maintain “best in class” support to deliver high and consistent service levels to internal and external customers.Identify and leverage finance and accounting best practices across the organization to control and reduce costs and standardize reporting.Collaborate with the other management team members to identify and execute process improvements.ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; and minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience; construction industry experience is required.Ability to work in a deadline driven environmentDemonstrated experience of performing functions efficiently and accurately with minimal direct supervisionA strong desire to contribute to a continuous improvement environmentAbility to develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with other members of the accounting team and other employees throughout the organizationStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others to follow Company Accounting policies and procedures.Strong critical thinking, decision making/problem solving skills.Experience using the Microsoft Suite of products (Excel, Word, Outlook) is required, with advanced skills in Excel.Excellent verbal and written communication, time management, and organizational skillsOther skills and experience that would make you stand out as a candidate:5+ years using a major construction software, preferably Sage 300 CREFull cycle payroll experience in a union environmentExperience with insurance, including surety bonds and workers’ compensationSales and use taxIntercompany transactions and reconciliationsElectronic banking, including ACH’s and wire transfersRenewal of business and contractor’s licensesConstruction liens and waiver knowledgeStrong understanding of work in progressJay Dee Contractors, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
