The ideal candidate for this role must have a strong understanding of current trends in the marketplace to help guide Kiewit in pursuing work that fits our strengths in the market serving nuclear utilities and small modular reactor OEMs. This individual is responsible for development and implementation of our overall strategy to ensure Kiewit becomes a leading contractor in this market. District Overview Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is a full-service engineering, project management and construction provider operating across North America. Our experience spans all aspects of the nuclear market from carbon-free, small modular reactors to Department of Energy science, environmental and nuclear security mission capabilities. With these broad capabilities, we operate in the power utility, renewable energy, industrial and infrastructure markets. Location This position is based out of Lenexa, KS. This position requires the ability to travel at least 50% to client and project locations as needed. Responsibilities Leads the development of an overall market strategy and business plan for the commercial nuclear and small modular reactor market. This includes topics such as market potential (addressable market), target opportunities, key partners and clients, bidding strategy, market risks, industry events, and targeted annual bid and award revenue Coordinates with the leadership and operations staff to obtain necessary resources to estimate and respond to RFPs Provides multiple touch points to ensure constant client engagement with key client decision-makers, teaming partners and affiliate organizations Analyzes market data to identify trends and opportunities in the market. Provides input for strategic direction and possible expansion of design engineering services. Manages business development professionals to engage with Clients and 3rd party engineering partners as needed to achieve capture goals Is responsible for all proposals in their designated market segment, their content and the process of their completion through handover to operations. Coordinates with proposal managers and marketing managers to produce deliverables (proposals, brochures, presentations, etc.) necessary to achieve capture goals Leads client, OEM and 3rd party engineering partner contract negotiations in concert with Operations and Legal to achieve a cohesive execution team Leads go/no go bid decisions with senior leaders Is responsible for the proposal budget and proper and efficient utilization of division resources to achieve overall capture objectives Qualifications Bachelors or Masters degree in a related technical field with 15+ years of progressively complex experience in managing business development activities. A technical degree relevant to the nuclear market is highly desirable. Preference given to candidates with a successful record of developing new business related to significant construction work on nuclear facilities Develop strategy and new commercial transaction that is typical for Design/Build, EPCs and Construction Management in the commercial nuclear and small modular reactor market Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives Must be able to travel at the demands of the clients and opportunity timelines necessary to achieve the desired capture results. A flexible schedule is essential. Candidate should have thorough understanding of design engineering processes in nuclear facilities Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S. Other Requirements: Regular, reliable attendance Work productively and meet deadlines timely Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
