The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring product and process excellence by driving supplier quality performance, strengthening internal quality systems, and resolving production issues. This role partners closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams to evaluate and qualify sources, implement effective quality controls, and lead root cause and corrective action initiatives. Through continuous improvement efforts, the Quality Engineer helps establish and maintain a robust, scalable quality production system that meets industry standards and supports overall operational success.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supplier Quality Evaluation and Qualification:
Assess and qualify new suppliers to ensure they meet quality standards.
Conduct regular evaluations of existing suppliers to maintain high-quality production levels.
Supplier Process Walkthroughs:
Perform periodic walkthroughs of supplier processes to ensure adherence to quality production systems.
Engage with suppliers to address and resolve quality-related issues and promote continuous improvement.
Quality Production System Development:
Develop and implement foundational quality production systems within the organization.
Ensure that internal processes align with industry standards and best practices.
Define and implement quality requirements and expectations internally and for suppliers.
Create and maintain quality documentation
Problem Solving:
Address production issues both remotely and on-site, working collaboratively with suppliers and internal teams.
Implement effective solutions to resolve quality problems promptly and prevent recurrence
Root Cause and Corrective Action:
Lead root cause analysis investigations to identify the underlying causes of quality issues.
Develop and execute corrective action plans to mitigate risks and improve product quality.
Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, needed, or required for the business.
Qualifications

Qualifications include:
Education, Experience and Certifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality engineering or a related role.
Certification in quality engineering (e.g., CQE, Six Sigma) is a plus.
Experience in highly technical manufacturing industries (e.g., aerospace, advanced engineered products).
Proven experience with supplier quality management and process improvement.
Strong knowledge of quality management systems and industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
A mix of large and small-scale business operation beneficial.
Skills and Abilities
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with suppliers and internal teams.
Proficiency in using quality management tools and software
Must be willing to travel, approximately 25%
Role Classification and Working Conditions
This is a salaried, exempt-level position. This position typically works in an office environment, and given the nature of our business, is also exposed to operations/warehouses/production environments.
Physical/Other Requirements
Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Ability to travel, as needed, by plane, automobile, etc., approximately 25%.
