This role focuses on transformer assembly, vacuum oil processing, commissioning support, maintenance, and lifecycle services.This is a hands-on, travel-based role requiring strong mechanical aptitude, electrical awareness, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in high-demand environments such as substations, industrial facilities, and data center infrastructure.Technicians represent Axium in the field and are expected to uphold the highest standards of safety, technical execution, and professionalism.ResponsibilitiesTransformer Assembly & Field ServicesPerform full transformer dress-out including radiators, bushings, conservators, cooling systems, and auxiliary componentsExecute mechanical assembly, torquing, alignment, and sealing per OEM specificationsInstall wiring, gauges, and control components associated with transformer systemsSupport transformer disassembly, relocation, and refurbishment activitiesOil Processing & Vacuum ServicesOperate oil processing equipment including vacuum dehydration and filtration systemsPerform vacuum pulls, leak detection, and vacuum hold testsExecute hot oil circulation, oil filling, and conditioning processesMaintain oil quality standards including moisture, dielectric strength, and cleanlinessCollect and support analysis of oil samples including DGA and moisture testingTesting & Commissioning SupportSupport electrical testing activities including insulation resistance, power factor, TTR, and winding resistanceAssist in commissioning and energization activitiesMonitor transformer performance during startup and troubleshooting phasesSafety & QualityFollow all safety protocols including lockout/tagout, PPE, and rigging proceduresParticipate in hazard assessments, safety meetings, and job planningEnsure all work aligns with industry standards including OSHA, NFPA 70E, IEEE, and NETA practicesComplete accurate field documentation, reports, and checklistsEquipment & LogisticsMaintain oil processing units, pumps, hoses, and field equipmentAssist with mobilization and demobilization of trailers and jobsite equipmentTroubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on field equipmentQualificationsRequired2+ years of experience working with power transformers or high-voltage equipmentStrong understanding of transformer components and field service processesExperience with oil processing systems and vacuum equipmentAbility to read OEM drawings, schematics, and proceduresValid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively (50–70%)PreferredExperience in substation, utility, or industrial environmentsRigging, forklift, or CDL experienceExposure to electrical testing or commissioning scopesNETA, OSHA 30, or OEM-specific trainingCore CompetenciesSafety-first mindsetStrong mechanical aptitudeAttention to detail and quality executionTeam-oriented with strong communication skillsProfessional client interactionPosition Alignment with AxiumThis role sits within Axium's Transformer Lifecycle Service Line, supporting services including:Transformer assembly and commissioningOil processing and diagnosticsMaintenance and repairLifecycle asset support across utility, industrial, and data center marketsDuties may be included from other service lines withing Axium Power Services
