Medium Voltage Field Service Technician

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Houston, TX for a Medium Voltage Field Service Technician. The technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of medium voltage electrical equipment and systems. Day-to-day tasks include performing inspections, testing system functionality, analyzing technical issues, and ensuring compliance with safety codes and standards. The role requires collaboration with team members, providing technical reports, and interacting with clients when necessary to ensure successful project delivery.What You’ll Be DoingHandling and installing medium voltage cables (5kV–35kV)Performing MV terminations (cold shrink / heat shrink)Running tests like: Megger (insulation resistance) Continuity checksDoing point-to-point checksHelping with functional testing (start/stop, interlocks, etc.)Supporting energization and startupTroubleshooting issues with wiring, terminations, or equipment Making sure work matches drawingsHelping knock out punch list itemsDriving up to field location Qualifications Proficiency in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of medium voltage electrical systemsStrong understanding of electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manualsExperience with testing equipment such as multimeters, insulation testers, and power quality analyzersKnowledge of safety standards, codes, and regulations related to electrical systemsExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailStrong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and client interactionsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in an on-site environmentRelevant certifications such as NETA, OSHA, or NFPA 70E are a plusHigh school diploma or equivalent; technical training or Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field preferred
