Summer Aide - Engineering

DescriptionThe Onondaga County Water Authority is looking for a Summer Aide to join their Engineering Department.Under immediate supervision, employees perform a wide variety of basic and routine assignments that assist in the normal functioning of governmental operation. Employees perform a variety of routine manual, clerical or recreational work in governmental agencies. This allows for the smooth flow of governmental operations when additional staffing is needed. Although the majority of participants work only during the summer season as needed and available, employees may also work during other seasons of the year. This job may function in any governmental jurisdiction and be supervised by regular governmental employees. There is no supervision of other employees exercised in this classification. OCWA employees are proud of where they work and the communities they serve.RequirementsPosition is Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pmThe summer aide in the Engineering department will be responsible for Lead Service Study and Backflow Prevention Program research, identification and data management.Typical activities for Lead Service Study include performing various data management activities, working with MS Office (e.g., Excel or Access) including data entry, data analysis and reporting. Some field work may be required to assist field crews with field records regarding soft dig of water services for Lead Program inventory.Typical activities for Backflow Prevention Program include assisting with GPS and GIS location of backflow prevention devices. In addition, conduct site surveys - identifying hazards, backflow prevention devices, and communicating with customers and their representatives with information and program requirements.Valid driver license is required.All seasonal employees are required to complete a drug and alcohol screening.
