The EHS Specialist is responsible for assisting the Director of Safety in executing EHS initiatives across Mount Carmel Soil Stabilization’s Operating areas to enhance the overall EHS culture and to identify, evaluate, and control risks necessary to drive EHS performance and operating efficiency. The EHS Specialist will work with Operations across multiple locations to educate and drive compliance by performing day-to-day activities such as visiting and observing work sites, identifying opportunities to reduce incident potential, assisting in the growth of a world-class EHS Program, and demonstrating EHS leadership aligned with MTC’s Values and Operating Principles. Travel is required to provide guidance and oversight during field and shop visits. RESPONSIBILITIES: Improve the safety of work. Present as a visible leader, influencing and motivating while modeling MTC's operating principles Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the MTC, EHS Programs.Assist with utilizing leading and lagging KPI metrics to drive EHS performancePrepare and maintain EHS-related reports and documentation.Build and maintain a strong partnership with Operations to drive positive and continuous EHS improvements. Conduct worksite observations to identify potential risks and compliance with company and regulatory requirements. Provide feedback to operations leadership on the observations. Provide timely assistance and consistent interpretation of company EHS programs/procedures and regulatory requirements. Stay up-to-date on applicable regulations and standards.Assist with incident investigations and analyze incidents to surface learning and growth opportunities to aid in preventing future incidents. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote EHS awareness and continuous improvement.Develop, support, and facilitate compliant EHS training programs.Communicate safety program needs with leadership Comply with all company policies, procedures, and work rules. Perform all duties as required. Perform other related and necessary duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:Associate degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of a high school diploma or GED, safety- or industry-related credentials (or progress toward them), and relevant work experience. Examples include CSP, ASP, GSP, CHST and OHST.2-5 years of experience in EHS, safety or environmental program development and compliance in general industry, manufacturing or construction.Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.Valid driver’s license .Bi-lingual or currently learning a second language is an advantage.
