This position will conduct environmental sampling including vegetation and hydrology for monitoring and delineation purposes, data analysis, and reporting. Other responsibilities will vary based on the candidate’s skill set and project needs. These responsibilities may include additional ecological service site assessments, such as wildlife surveys, ground water sampling, and restoration support.Your Key ResponsibilitiesKnowledge of or experience with wetland and stream vegetative community, including species identificationKnowledge of or experience with wetland, stream and habitat monitoring sampling methodologiesKnowledge of or experience with wetland and stream delineations field assessment, data recording and reporting for delineation per the applicable USACE standardized methodologiesUse of GPS for field mapping and desktop reviewAble and willing to assist our restoration and maintenance teams with field work for quality controlOpportunities for water quality and wildlife possibleOpportunities to assist in conducting groundwater samplingRecording data and observations in an accurate and well-organized mannerPreparing technical reports detailing environmental assessments and monitoring activitiesComplete autonomously to semi-autonomously assigned tasksCompleting office tasks such as data management, analysis and interpretation; and report preparationCompleting and adhering to Health and Safety and QA/QC protocolsInteracting and communicating effectivelyBe a contributing and productive team memberParticipating in team and independent based workAbility to safely work outdoors in all types of weather and terrain conditions typical of the MidwestTravel may be requiredYour Capabilities and CredentialsStrong plant identification skills including wetland speciesKnowledge and facility with appropriate Midwest botanical referencesMust have field botany skills and ability to conduct field work, at times for long hours or under strenuous circumstancesExcellent oral and written communication skillsDedication to successful project execution incorporating critical thinking, ability to work within regulatory guidance documents, and adhere to high quality and ethical standards.Follows safe work practicesBasic or above average understanding of technical writing skillsPositive, flexible, team-oriented approach, with the willingness and desire to work as a part of a multi-disciplinary teamEffective time management and follow-through, with the ability to simultaneously work on and potentially lead multiple tasks subject to project deadlinesStrongly detail oriented and able to work as part of a team and independentlyStrong proficiency in Microsoft Office Word & ExcelAbility to travel to work locations with some overnight travel capacityFlexibility to work in office and field environmentsValid Driver’s LicenseEducation and ExperienceBachelor's degree or higher in botany, plant ecology, wetlands ecology, riparian ecology, conservation biology, or related sufficient work experience.Minimum 1 years’ work experience; or an equivalent combination of education (e.g. advanced degree) and experience.Capable of working in an office environment (computer based work for reports, data, project tasks) and performing field work throughout the year.This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.About StantecStantec is a global leader in sustainable engineering, architecture, and environmental consulting.
