Production Supervisor - 12 Hours Days

Essential ResponsibilitiesAcquire knowledge and understanding of all production lines and formulations to adequately support production operations at the Cape Girardeau site Provide leadership on the floor to help production employees receive, warehouse, distribute, and produce products within Verdesian OperationsSafety: Comply with prescribed safety procedures or federal laws regulating waste disposal methodsConduct daily toolbox talks with entire staff and maintain safety standardsMaintain thorough knowledge of pertinent regulations governing property storage and management of hazardous materials, including solvents, flammables and chemicalsMaintain accurate records of safety procedures concerning lock-out/tag-out, confined space entry, etc.Oversee plant safety program on the floor to ensure employees are working in a manner consistent with training, injury reporting, and assuring plant environment is accessible and safe for employees, customers, and publicAssure shift personnel are following all safety procedures at all timesWatch new personnel closely during their probationary periods to create a positive safety cultureQuality:Conduct and record lab analysis of manufactured products (QA/QC)Train as functional back-up for all production operators to be knowledgeable from experience on how to handle problems or setbacks from normal operationsExamine machinery used in the production process to verify conformance to quality standardsProduction Supervisor:Gain proficient understanding and be capable of operating all equipment where needed in the areas of Plant Production Processes including, but not limited to, materials, mixing, packaging, dry production, compacting, quality control, receiving, and distribution of all productsWarehouse and storage of materials in an orderly and consistent manner, i.e., Raw vs. WIP vs FinishedMaintain housekeeping practices in the plant to a high standard to be ready at any time for customers or management tours of the facility Read work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputsObserve equipment operations, test machinery, equipment, components, and parts for defects to ensure proper functioningDemonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for trainingMaintain and approve employee time and manage any attendance issues according to company policyIn concurrence with plant management and human resources, issue discipline to employees as necessary and appropriate according to company policyInventory Management:Review shift paperwork to ensure pertinent information is recorded by each operator in each production area to point out and highlight issues affecting production, use and consumption of raw materials, clean outs and finished goodsWork with production leads to ensure that inventory supply of materials consistently meets appropriate demandProject support for new startups of products specifically assigned by Production ManagerComplete facilities maintenance duties as assignedOther duties not listed above as assigned by immediate supervisorCriteriaProficiency in all Verdesian products software and programs related to job functions of this positionExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProficient use of MS Office: Word and ExcelStrong organizational skillsAbility to prioritize workProficient use of standard lab equipmentAbility to handle oneself in stressful situationsMaintain production qualityObserve Safe Food/Safe Feed criteriaComplete required production forms and recordingPerform basic maintenance as needed and assist maintenance as neededQualificationsMinimum work experience in a supervisory position of 2 yearsMinimum education of high school diplomaPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
