Direct Mail Production Asst Supervisor 1st Shift (2 years exp required)

SUMMARY PMC is looking for a Handwork and Fulfillment Assistant Supervisor. This person will be responsible for the overall performance of all personnel within the Handwork Department. They will work directly with their respective Shift Manager and other Department Managers and Supervisors as well as the Plant Director to ensure efficient labor usage and the production of quality output. This employee will be required to conform to all PMC standards for Safety and Conduct. Essential Duties and Responsibilities This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time. 1. Lead by Example. 2. Responsible for following the daily schedule priorities to ensure schedules are met. 3. Responsible for ensuring cross training within the department and labor sharing among department operators. 4. Coordinate with Shipping Department daily to ensure that all mail is prepared and shipped according to USPS regulations and Mail schedules. 5. Ensure consumable inventory levels are accurate and ordered in a timely fashion to eliminate the need for expedited delivery costs and down time. 6. Ensure PM’s and daily maintenance on all equipment within the department is performed and escalate to Plant Director on an as needed basis. 7. Standardize and Review SOP’s and QC processes for the department to improve quality and efficiency. Make recommendations on improvements to our current processes. 8. Equipment Evaluation – inform Plant Director of any ongoing equipment limitations, failures, etc. 9. Control Costs – this is all encompassing…rework reduction/elimination, spoilage, OT, etc. 10. Coordinate with Shift Managers to reduce delays, share labor and improve work flow. 11. Process combining – explore inline opportunities. 12. Accountability – Department personnel need to be held accountable for their actions, whether good or bad. 13. Provide employee Annual Reviews (more info to follow). 14. Follow all QC and PMC policies and procedures. (See Employee Handbook and QC Manual) 15. Work with operators and mechanical staff to ensure goals are accurate. Notify Shift Manager & Plant Director of any job not meeting goal(s). 16. Follow and enforce the schedule as a living document within department. 17. Review, modify and enforce (by enforce the company means alerting the appropriate supervisors/managers and performing write-ups when necessary) consistent data collection practices for all production departments. 18. Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures. 19. Comply with all quality, safety and work rules and regulations. 20. Ensure that all Human Resource matters are documented and information is passed on in a timely manner to the HR Department. (i.e. write-ups, terminations, insurance docs, resignations, leave requests, etc.) 21. Other functions vary as Management deems necessary. Education and/or Experience Candidates must be at least 18 years old and have one year of continuous work history in the last three years. Manufacturing experience (such as laborer, machinist, assembly, down piling, or bindery) is preferred. Computer skills are required, such as utilizing enterprise software, shipping systems, Excel spreadsheets, and other mid-level tasks. English Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend English instructions, short email correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
