Lead Curriculum Developer- Dual Language
Mission Statement:Uplift's mission is to create and sustain public schools of excellence that empower each student to reach their highest potential in college and the global marketplace and that inspire in students a life-long love of learning, achievement, and service in order to positively change their world.Primary Purpose:The Lead Curriculum Developer, Dual Language, serves as the network-level authority on bilingual and dual language curriculum across a growing portfolio of Uplift's dual language program. This role builds the dual language instructional leadership capacity of campus administrators and teaching teams, leads the creation of original, IB-aligned curriculum systems in both English and Spanish, including ELD block design, paired literacy frameworks, and assessment tools that support simultaneous biliteracy instruction. The Lead Curriculum Developer manages a portfolio of dual language curriculum initiatives, ensures alignment with TEKS, ELPS, IB Programme Standards, and the program's language allocation model, and collaborates with peer Lead Curriculum Developers to maintain cross-content coherence. This is a mid-senior-level role focused on curriculum systems design, supporting academic rigor, equity, and cultural relevance across all dual language classrooms.Duties/Responsibilities:Curriculum Architecture and Development (50%)Own and direct the dual language content vision and curriculum system for all dual language classrooms across the network (currently 6 campuses, expanding annually), collaborating with multilingual partners to write and develop literacy curriculum and resources aligned to the paired literacy framework.Develop, revise, and maintain PK–2 curriculum documents in both English and Spanish, including ELD lesson plans, assessments, and instructional supports for ELAR/SLAR and Spanish-language IB resources that promote early childhood development and elementary readiness.Ensure all curriculum materials are fully aligned to Uplift's Scope and Sequence, TEKS, ELPS, and the IB framework, and that they support the 80/20 language allocation model while addressing early childhood developmental domains.Integrate cross-linguistic connections and simultaneous biliteracy development strategies into all curriculum documents to promote metalinguistic awareness and academic language growth in both languages.Lead development and adaptation of curriculum resources to ensure instructional equity and access in both program languages.Ensure all finalized curriculum documents are published and maintained equitably on the network's curriculum platforms (e.g., Toddle, Intranet, or other LMS), with consistency across English and Spanish materials.Collaborate with campus leaders, teachers, content experts, and C&I team members to develop curriculum that is culturally and linguistically responsive, rigorous, and developmentally appropriate.Partner with the Multilingual team to embed language supports and dual language best practices within instructional materials and professional development.Support vertical alignment and coherence in literacy, language, and IB content across English and Spanish instruction.Champion equitable access to instructional resources, ensuring that dual language teachers have the tools, training, and support needed to meet the academic and linguistic needs of Emergent Bilingual students.Professional Development and Curriculum Training (20%)Facilitate professional development aligned to early biliteracy, foundational phonemic awareness, phonics, and dual language instructional best practices.Provide differentiated instructional leadership coaching to campus administrators and whole group, small group, and one-on-one coaching to teachers to strengthen implementation of curriculum and instructional strategies.Develop coaching tools to support planning for bridging, language objectives, and translanguaging practices.Collaborate with the Multilingual team to co-develop and deliver PD sessions that align with compliance and instructional excellence.Assessment Design and Data-Informed Revision (15%)Design and support the implementation of assessments in both English and Spanish that are aligned to content standards and appropriate for dual language learners.Monitor and analyze assessment data (formative, summative, and language proficiency) to inform instruction, refine curriculum, and identify areas for intervention.Partner with campus leaders and the Data team to disaggregate and track scholar performance across linguistic subgroups and develop equitable strategies for academic growth.Program Support and Field Alignment (15%)Monitor and support curriculum implementation across all dual language campuses through structured classroom observations, leadership coaching cycles, and collaborative planning.Analyze student data (formative, summative, language proficiency) across the full DL portfolio to guide instructional planning, inform campus-level leadership conversations, and target intervention.Provide targeted instructional leadership support to campus administrators and teachers at schools with identified needs to accelerate student outcomes.Collaborate with campus leaders to deliver data-informed, job-embedded PD that is aligned to IB and Uplift expectations.Supports identification and reclassification testing for Emergent Bilinguals.
