Inventory / Purchaser
Position SummaryThe Inventory / Purchaser – Fuel & Oil Products is responsible for managing fuel and lubricant inventory levels, procuring petroleum products, and ensuring uninterrupted supply to meet operational and customer demands. This role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of fuel supply logistics, and the ability to make cost-effective purchasing decisions in a fast-paced environment.Key ResponsibilitiesMonitor daily inventory levels of fuel (diesel, gasoline, DEF) and oil/lubricantsCoordinate fuel and oil replenishment to prevent shortages or overstockingPlace and manage purchase orders for fuel, bulk oil, and related productsTrack market pricing trends and secure competitive fuel and oil pricingMaintain relationships with fuel terminals, suppliers, and oil vendorsSchedule and coordinate fuel loads with dispatch and terminal operationsEnsure compliance with all environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements (EPA, DOT, etc.)Reconcile fuel deliveries, invoices, and inventory discrepanciesMaintain accurate inventory and purchasing records in internal systemsCollaborate with dispatch, maintenance, and operations teams to forecast demandMonitor product quality and ensure proper storage and handling of fuel and lubricantsIdentify cost-saving opportunities and improve procurement processesQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; degree in supply chain, business, or related field preferred2+ years of experience in fuel purchasing, petroleum supply, inventory control, or logisticsKnowledge of fuel supply chain, terminals, and pricing structures preferredExperience with inventory management and purchasing systemsStrong Excel and data tracking skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environmentStrong negotiation and vendor management skillsHigh level of accuracy and attention to detailStrong communication and problem-solving abilitiesWork Environment & Physical RequirementsCombination of office and yard/terminal environmentMay require occasional travel to fuel terminals or vendor locationsAbility to lift up to 25–50 lbs as neededMay require early morning, evening, or weekend coordination based on fuel supply needsBenefitsBenefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO
