PURPOSE The Accounting Manager performs a variety of accounting and reporting duties in conformance with established bank policies, strategies, and procedures and manages the daily operations of the accounting staff. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Participates in the daily and monthly closing of the general ledger. Prepares and submits a variety of internal and external financial reports to management in an accurate and timely manner. Prepares regulatory reports including FDIC call report and FR2900 form. Maintains knowledge of GAAP and regulatory reporting standards and takes actions necessary to ensure financial reporting complies with these standards. Supports routine bank accounting processes as directed, including all calculations, record keeping, recording, and reconciliation functions. Performs analysis and assists in accounting-related projects as directed. Reports findings to appropriate bank management and outside entities as required. Effectively communicates with internal personnel and correspondent banks to resolve issues and ensure accurate reporting. Assists in the preparation and management of the annual budget. Responsible for the management, direction, and operation of accounts payable, fixed assets, and prepaid. Works with VP/Controller to ensure proper cross-training and updated procedures are in place for all job functions. Maintains technical competence and assists management in the development and implementation of systems and procedures that improve efficiency. Responsible for managing the accounting staff to ensure that work is properly allocated and includes training, development, and leadership of the team. Other accounting and finance-related duties may be assigned. Adhere to the Bank’s privacy and data security policies including but not limited to safeguarding of sensitive information and complying with relevant regulations to protect non-public information. Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting; CPA or CMA designation is highly desirable; and a minimum of three years of experience in accounting or finance, with a specific focus on banking or financial services preferred. Managerial experience preferred, with the ability and desire to mentor staff. Ability to multi-task while adhering to strict deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Organized and detail-oriented. Self-starter with the ability to produce quality results, meet all established goals, and objectives, and able to comply with all bank policies, procedures, regulations, and laws. Working knowledge of month-end closing procedures. Competent in Microsoft Office applications including strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
