WARNER MANUFACTURING COMPANY200 5TH Ave. Sacred Heart, 56285 MNJob Posting Title: Tool and Die MachinistJob Type: Full-time, Monday – Thursday 5:45am-4:15pm. Starting wage range: $20 - $35 per hour. Pay is merit based and can be negotiated with proven credentials.Job DescriptionThe Tool and Die Machinist is responsible for maintaining dies and troubleshooting die problems. This includes sharpening or repairing dies. Inspecting them before they are returned production. If necessary, consult on the appropriate maintenance procedure before starting. This also includes diagnosing die problems and determining and executing the appropriate solution. Responsible for assisting in the punch press and maintenance departments if needed and perform other duties as assigned or required. Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma. Class emphasis in mathematics, blueprint reading, metalworking, and drafting can be beneficial.Knowledge of metal properties.Experience with precision measurement tools.Strong manual dexterity and ability to use hand tools.Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to cooperate with other departments. Basic knowledge of safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment.Preferred Qualifications:Technical degree or certification in engineering, manufacturing technology, or relevant field. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical design models and blueprints.Proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD) software.Experience working with a variety of materials such as metals, plastics, and composites.Experience operating injection molding machines or similar manufacturing equipment. Basic understanding of mold design and tooling.Excellent problem-solving abilities and self-motivation.Experience managing a tool room or supervisory role.Awareness of OASHA guidelines and regulationsResponsibilities:Read and interpret technical blueprints and design models to gain a comprehensive understanding of the required partsUse machine tools to manufacture tools, dies, and machine partsMeasure finished parts to ensure they meet specifications using precise measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gaugesAssemble, disassemble, and test products to ensure functionality and qualityFile, grind, shim and adjust different parts to properly fit them togetherInspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defectsPerform quality checks on completed tools and dies to ensure they are function-readyRepair damaged or worn-out tool and diesConduct test runs with completed tools and dies to ensure parts meet specificationsInspect finished products for defects and ensure compliance with quality standardsOperate computer-aided design (CAD) software to design and modify tools and diesCoordinate with engineers and other production staff to understand specific requirements and to troubleshoot problemsMaintain a safe and clean working environment in compliance with safety regulations Skills:The Tool and Die Machinist utilizes technical skills daily to operate machinery, ensuring parts are produced to exact specifications. Proficient mechanical skills are required to set up, and maintain tooling machines, and ensure smooth production flow. Strong analytical skills are applied when interpreting complex blueprints and making precise adjustments to machine settings. Problem-solving abilities are essential for diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues quickly to maintain production flow. Communication skills facilitate effective collaboration with engineers and department leads to improve processes and product quality. Additionally, attention to detail and manual dexterity are critical for performing operations and handling tools safely and efficiently.
