For information on our international network visit www.colas.com.Position SummaryThe Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for supervising daily quality control activities for asphalt production and paving operations. This role ensures testing, inspection, and documentation are performed accurately and in compliance with DOT specifications, project requirements, and company standards. The Quality Control Supervisor provides direct oversight of QC Technicians and serves as a key liaison between quality teams and operations.Main ResponsibilitiesQuality Control OversightSupervise day‑to‑day quality control activities at asphalt plants and project sitesEnsure proper sampling, testing, and inspection of materials and paving operationsReview test results for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with specificationsIdentify non‑conforming work or materials and escalate issues to the QC ManagerField & Plant SupportCoordinate quality control coverage based on production and project schedulesSupport operations by addressing quality‑related issues in real timeObserve paving operations and provide feedback on mat quality, density, joints, and temperaturesAssist with troubleshooting materials, production, or placement concernsRegulatory & Specification ComplianceEnsure compliance with DOT, municipal, and project‑specific quality requirementsAssist with audits, certifications, and inspections for plants, labs, and job sitesMaintain required documentation, testing logs, and reportsTeam Leadership & TrainingSupervise and support QC Technicians and field testersProvide training on testing procedures, documentation, and safety requirementsPromote consistency, accountability, and professionalism within the QC teamEnforce safety policies and procedures for all QC activitiesCoordination & CommunicationCommunicate test results, trends, and issues to the QC Manager and Operations teamsCoordinate with third‑party inspectors, DOT representatives, and engineers as neededSupport pre‑paving and daily production meetings related to quality expectationsQualificationsRequiredHigh school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or construction education preferred3–7 years of experience in asphalt quality control, materials testing, or heavy civil constructionStrong knowledge of asphalt testing procedures, materials, and paving operationsExperience working under DOT specifications and quality programsAbility to supervise and mentor QC TechniciansValid driver’s license and ability to travel within the Mid‑West Central RegionPreferredState DOT certifications (HMA, aggregates, density, etc.)Experience with asphalt plant operations and field paving inspectionFamiliarity with performance‑based mix designsSkills And CompetenciesStrong attention to detail and documentation accuracyEffective communication and leadership skillsAbility to problem‑solve in fast‑paced field environmentsOrganized and capable of managing multiple prioritiesStrong commitment to safety and quality standardsColas Inc.
