Guided by our values of integrity, respect, accountability and excellence, we use leading science and technology to move fiber-based packaging forward.The OpportunityThe Electrical Project Engineer at our Longview Mill is primarily responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of capital projects safely to meet budget, schedule, and technical objectives at the mill. The Project Engineer will also provide technical assistance to Manufacturing and Maintenance.How You Will Impact WestRockThis list identifies the essential functions. As with all jobs, all duties and responsibilities are not listed, and will vary based upon the department, team, and business needs.Leads cross-functional teams in the development and implementation of a portfolio of capital projects.Leads all aspects of conceptual & preliminary design and core team selection and scope development.Leads all aspects of equipment and system selection, procurement, installation, checkout, and commissioning.Develops allocation/appropriation requests, creates, and tracks budgets and schedules.Develops management of change plan.Participates in post-startup tracking & evaluation of results and returns.Selects, leads, and manages multiple consulting and contract resources.Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.Manages projects during power/recovery boiler annual outages.Manages projects during paper machine outages.Provides technical support to Maintenance Planners, Foremen, and to other Engineers.Follows mill's safety protocols in addition to following state and federal safety laws and regulations.What You Need To SucceedBachelor's degree in electrical engineering3-5 years' work experience in project management required.Experience in pulp and paper industry preferred.Working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controller (e.g. Honeywell, Allen Bradley), Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's) and Power Distribution Systems.Proficient computer skills including experience with Microsoft OfficeStrong leadership ability along with high ethical standards, with uncompromising focus on worker safety and regulatory compliance requirements.Solid ability to organize and plan, working independently with minimal supervision.Ability to forecast spending on projects and manage projects within budget.Ability to maintain a balance of work priorities and complete assignments within established timeframes.Take on every assignment with a sense of urgency.Attention to detail and accuracy is essential.Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment.Ability to interact collaboratively as part of a team.Strong analytical skills and the ability to draw valid conclusions supported by fact and data.Strong oral and written communication skills, including ability to present information in a clear and concise manner.Compensation Offered* Salary Range: $97,300 - $155,500 DOE (Junior, Intermediate, Senior levels)* Bonus/Commission Eligible: Yearly Short-Term Incentive Program (STIP) bonus based off metrics.Benefits OfferedSmurfit Westrock offers a variety of benefits and group health insurance options, the premium costs of which are currently shared by employees and Smurfit Westrock (e.g., health, dental, vision, disability, flexible spending account, HSA, life insurance, paid time off, employee assistance program, matching 401K).What We OfferCorporate culture is based on integrity, respect, accountability, and excellence.Comprehensive training with numerous learning and development opportunitiesAn attractive salary reflecting skills, competencies, and potential.A career with a global packaging company where Sustainability, Safety and Inclusion are business drivers and foundational elements of the daily work.Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, protected veteran status or other characteristics protected by state or federal law.The salary range for this position is $95,625.00 - $159,375.00, depending on your role, level, and location. The range listed is also the expected pay for roles in Illinois and Colorado. The benefits for this role include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 10 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change.
