Job TitleElectrical Project EngineerJob DescriptionElectrical Project Engineer IWe are looking for an Electrical Project Engineer I (mid-level) to support the North American Retrofit, Repair, and Modernization (RMR) Project Team.The RMR team is responsible for the design, specification, and commissioning of retrofit and modernization projects throughout North America. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the electrical design meets customer requirements, is coordinated with other trades to minimize conflicts during installation, can be installed efficiently, and that strong communication is maintained with the site team.Success in this role involves balancing the technical requirements of the position while also demonstrating the collaboration and communication skills necessary to work with customers, vendors, and internal teams to manage priorities, improve processes, and achieve project goals. A successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills, creativity, interpersonal communication, and the ability to determine when to solve problems independently and when to involve experienced team members for support.Key ResponsibilitiesYour responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:Develop code compliant electrical systems that meet customer specificationsTranslate sales drawings and specifications into a fully functional system description that can be used to generate a Request for Proposal (RfP) for Project Procurement when necessaryOptimize system functionality from the as-sold concept to a working electrical design within the project budget in collaboration with other disciplines such as Mechanical, Controls, Supply Chain, and InstallationPerform system and component level calculations to properly size components and equipment for the application including conductor sizing, voltage drop, motor starters, overcurrent protection, short circuit protection, control panels, and control networksEngineer project-specific solutions for non-standard design applicationsApply relevant safety regulationsSpecify electrical equipment required for complete electrical systems that operate and control both Vanderlande manufactured and third-party equipmentUse software tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, Word, and Excel to develop electrical designs including wiring diagrams, termination lists, and bills of materialsDocument engineering decisions through design plans, installation documentation, and engineering instructions for site supervisors and installation subcontractorsTravel to project sites as needed to conduct site surveysSupport installation and commissioning both on site and from the Marietta, GA officeMaintain project document control using a rights-based database systemRequirementsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering TechnologyMinimum of 5 years of related work experienceOr Associate degree in EE/ET with 8 years of related experienceMust be willing and able to travel domestically up to 33 percent with occasional international travel opportunitiesAbility to think conceptually at the overall system level and translate this into a detailed system designAbility to work in a collaborative and team-oriented environmentStrong communication skills with the ability to clearly understand and set expectations for deliverablesAbility to manage time sensitive situations while maintaining attention to detailWillingness to learnProactive mindsetAbility to work autonomously or in a team environmentStrong team mentality and ownership of project completionAbility to properly prioritize work and activitiesStrong problem-solving and research skillsExcellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsAbility to drive process improvementsExperience in project management or leading teamsExperience using project planning and deliverables tracking toolsAbility to use AutoCAD Electrical or other drafting toolsExperience with Autodesk tools including NavisworksStrong knowledge of electrical engineering theories and principlesAdvanced knowledge of NFPA 70Experience designing UL rated control cabinetsExperience designing low voltage power distribution systemsExperience working with and programming PLCsDesired QualificationsAdvanced knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 Occupational Safety and Health StandardsAdvanced knowledge of NFPA 70EAdvanced knowledge of NFPA 79Advanced knowledge of UL 508ABasic knowledge of ISO 13849-1Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities required for this position.
