Outpatient Pediatric Dietitian Supervisor

Apply for JobJob ID83928 LocationSacramento Full/Part TimeFull Time Add to Favorite JobsEmail this Job Job Summary The Nutrition and Dietary Services Health Care Supervisor 2 plans, coordinates, schedules, and supervises the work of clinical dietitians (career and per diem, covering inpatient and/or outpatient areas, adults and/or pediatrics as assigned), as well as other staff/interns as assigned. Reports directly to the Nutrition and Dietary Manager HC (Clinical Nutrition Manager). This position is assigned an active leadership role, solves complex operational problems, assists with the development of policies and procedures, standards of care and conducts quality assurance and performance improvement activities. This position is directly responsible for staff supervision, including orienting, training, evaluating, and formally mentoring dietitians in assigned work area and for other staff/interns as assigned. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, this position provides highly specialized medical nutrition therapy for patients with complex medical conditions and serves as an internship preceptor and class instructor. This position is a part of the Clinical Nutrition Leadership/Supervisory team and provides cross-coverage for other Clinical Nutrition operational dietitian supervisors as needed, which responsibilities include supervising daily operations, direct supervision and assignment of work of the clinical dietitian staff, providing input on and conducting performance evaluations as assigned, and resolving complaints and grievances. Maintains professional competence and the skills required for professional practice; participates in department compliance and performance improvement activities; and may be involved with community outreach. Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the positionRegistered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) registered with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' Commission on Dietetic RegistrationRegistered Dietitian / Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD / RDN), registered with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' Commission on Dietetic Registration.California Children's Services (CCS) Dietitian Paneling (or eligible to obtain within one year) if assigned to pediatrics or CCS Specialty Care Center(s)Bachelor's degree in related area from a U.S. regionally accredited institution or foreign equivalent.Experience teaching and supervising dietetic interns or other students.Experience supervising/managing other professionals and/or demonstrated leadership skill.Experience solving complex problems and making decisions through critical thinking process.Experience working collaboratively with others.Experience working productively with people who have both similar and different backgrounds.Experience working on continuous quality improvement and/or performance improvement projects.Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills, with experience in accomplishing work that meets expected quality standards without direct daily supervision.Minimum of 5 years work experience in the area of specialty.Effective teaching skills as preceptor for clinical experience as well as teaching group classes for interns, health care professionals, and the public.Demonstrates motivational skills to inspire team/others to improve the organization.Strong academic background and applied background in clinical nutrition.Knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapy principles, including enteral and parenteral nutrition support.Demonstrates good judgement and makes decisions considering all key factors.Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills with others, e.g., direct reports, peers, supervisors, patients/families, multidisciplinary team members, and dietetic interns.Is empathetic and aware of impact on others.Demonstrates initiative and innovation. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet software, and email/calendaring software.Preferred QualificationsSpecialty certification in area of expertise Advance degree, Master's degree in nutrition, public health or management. Experience with effectively and efficiently using computerized patient applications, e.g., using electronic medical records systems, such as Epic and Computrition, used at UC Davis Health.
