In this role, you will:Design and develop scalable, secure applications that support critical law enforcement investigations targeting criminal networks and dark web operationsBuild custom solutions that integrate with existing investigative systems and infrastructureWork within a collaborative technical team delivering mission-critical software for national security operationsApply modern full stack development practices to solve complex investigative challenges in anonymized environmentsThis position requires U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain a DHS Public Trust clearance.Responsibilities:Design and implement complex web applications with advanced knowledge of frontend and backend technologiesDevelop and maintain custom applications, tools, and sites to support DHS C3 investigative operationsBuild applications using dark web technologies such as Tor for secure, anonymous communicationDevelop RESTful APIs and microservices architecture to enable system integration and data exchangeWrite clean, maintainable code in Python and JavaScript for investigative software systems Implement responsive user interfaces using modern frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue.js)Develop server-side applications using frameworks such as Express.js, Django, or FlaskMaintain and deploy code using Docker, version control (Git/GitHub), and CI/CD pipelinesDesign and optimize database schemas for performance and scalabilityIntegrate applications with existing investigative systems through APIs and system interfacesDevelop solutions that operate in anonymized and dark web environments while maintaining operational securityCollaborate with data scientists, infrastructure engineers, and cybersecurity specialists on cross-functional projectsParticipate in code reviews, testing, and quality assurance processesDocument software architecture, APIs, and technical specificationsTroubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issuesSupport software development lifecycle from requirements gathering through production deploymentEnsure applications meet federal security standards and compliance requirementsQualifications:Required:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field 5+ years of demonstrated full stack development experience with a proven track record of delivering production applicationsExperience developing dark web applications using technologies such as Tor for secure, anonymous communicationAdvanced proficiency in frontend frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue.js) with strong JavaScript/TypeScript skillsExpert-level backend development experience with Python, Node.js, or JavaStrong understanding of RESTful API design and microservices architectureExperience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and SQL query optimizationProficiency with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflowsExperience maintaining and deploying applications using Docker and containerizationStrong understanding of software design patterns, data structures, and algorithmsKnowledge of web security best practices, secure coding principles, and anonymization technologiesExcellent problem-solving and debugging skillsStrong communication skills with ability to collaborate effectively across technical teamsActive Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain and maintain clearanceDesired:Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical fieldExperience integrating AI/ML models into web applications and building interfaces for AI-powered systemsKnowledge of machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn) and AI model deploymentExperience developing applications that consume AI APIs or incorporate generative AI capabilitiesUnderstanding of AI/ML workflows, model serving, and inference optimizationThis position is contingent on funding and may not be filled immediately.
