Drop Bury Technician

Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and skilled Drop Bury Technician to join our dynamic team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for installing, burying, and maintaining underground fiber optic and telecommunication cables with precision and safety. Your expertise will ensure seamless connectivity for our clients by working diligently on construction sites, operating heavy equipment, and following detailed schematics. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical IT infrastructure projects while developing your skills in fiber splicing, network installation, and electrical systems. Duties Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, trenchers, and power tools to excavate and bury cables efficiently and safely. Install underground fiber optic cables, telecommunication lines, and associated infrastructure according to schematics and technical specifications. Perform fiber splicing, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal network performance. Use hand tools and power tools to prepare trenches, lay cables, and secure connections within construction zones. Climb poles or structures as needed for cable installation or maintenance, adhering to safety protocols. Interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and network infrastructure layouts for accurate project execution. Conduct routine inspections of buried cables and infrastructure to identify issues or potential failures. Maintain detailed records of work performed, including installation logs, test results, and maintenance reports. Collaborate with team members on project timelines and safety procedures to ensure efficient workflow. Requirements Proven experience in field service roles involving heavy equipment operation and cable installation. Strong knowledge of telecommunication systems, fiber splicing, LAN (Local Area Network), Ethernet wiring, and low voltage electrical systems. Ability to operate bucket trucks, power tools, hand tools, and other construction equipment safely. Familiarity with schematics, computer networking concepts (WAN – Wide Area Network), telephony systems, and IT infrastructure components. Physical ability to climb poles or structures regularly while maintaining safety standards. Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail during installation or troubleshooting tasks. Prior experience working in construction environments or with electrical systems is highly desirable. Valid certifications for equipment operation or telecommunications work are a plus but not mandatory.
