This role conducts investigations into internal and external theft, process gaps, inventory discrepancies, safety/security violations, and operational compliance issues. The investigator partners closely with operations, HR, security leadership, and law enforcement to minimize loss and ensure a safe, secure, and compliant workplace.\n \nResponsibilities:\nInvestigations & Case Management\n\nConduct thorough investigations into suspected theft, fraud, inventory shrink, mis-shipments, or other loss-related incidents.\nGather, analyze, and preserve evidence including CCTV footage, access-control data, inventory records, and witness statements.\nInterview employees, drivers, contractors, and witnesses using professional interviewing techniques.\nPrepare detailed written reports, case files, and evidence summaries for internal use and potential legal action.\nMaintain confidentiality and ensure integrity of all investigations.\n\n \nOperational Audits & Compliance\n\nPerform routine and targeted audits of distribution center processes such as receiving, picking, packing, shipping, returns, and transportation.\nIdentify process gaps, security vulnerabilities, and non-compliance with company policies or regulatory standards.\nPartner with operations leadership to recommend corrective actions and preventive measures.\nMonitor adherence to physical security protocols (CCTV, alarms, access control, seal integrity, trailer checks, etc.).\n\n \nLoss Prevention Programs\n\nSupport loss prevention initiatives, awareness training, and educational programs for staff and supervisors.\nAnalyze shrink trends, exceptions, and data patterns to identify areas of risk and emerging issues.\nAssist in developing and implementing procedures to reduce shrinkage, improve inventory accuracy, and enhance asset protection.\n\n \nCollaboration & Communication\n\nBuild strong partnerships with distribution center management, HR, safety teams, transportation managers, and corporate loss prevention staff.\nWork with local law enforcement on criminal cases, subpoenas, evidence handling, and prosecution when required.\nDeliver clear communication and follow-up on investigation outcomes, audit findings, and risk mitigation strategies.\n\n \nQualifications:\nRequired\n\nExperience in loss prevention, investigations, asset protection, security, or related field (retail or distribution preferred).\nStrong investigative and interviewing skills (e.g., Wicklander-Zulawski or Reid method preferred).\nAbility to analyze data, identify trends, and handle complex information.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nHigh integrity, sound judgment, and ability to handle sensitive matters discreetly.\nProficiency with security systems (CCTV, access control, incident management software) and MS Office tools.\nAbility to work flexible hours, including occasional nights, weekends, and travel between facilities.\n\n \nAdditional Qualifications, preferred:\n\nExperience in distribution/warehouse operations, supply chain, transportation, or logistics.\nKnowledge of OSHA, workplace safety, and compliance requirements.\nCertification in LP (Asset Protection) or criminal justice background.\n\n \nWork Environment:\nThis position is located in an active industrial manufacturing and distribution center with moderate to high noise levels, temperature variations, and material handling equipment in operation. The role may require extended periods of standing or walking on concrete floors and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and steel-toed boots.
