Rothe is seeking a Digital Media Specialist to provides support to the Code AC, Office of Communications Digital Media Team, at NASA Glenn Research Center in support of the NASA Enterprise Multimedia and Integrated Technical Services (eMITS) contract. eMITS is the Agency’s enterprise-level contract creating and delivering multimedia and technical communications through the use of the internet, digital platforms, and IT management for NASA’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) and Office of Communications (OCOMM). From photographing rocket launches and recoveries, to producing engaging videos, to information technology management, to using social media to share NASA’s message, eMITS integrates services for NASA IT and provides NASA’s communication to the outside world. This job is on-site at Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio Salary $43,000 - 51,000 Job Description: The Digital Media Specialist provides support for the Code AC, Office of Communications Digital Media Team, at NASA Glenn Research Center to meet the increasing demands for social and digital media content and virtual public engagement for NASA’s various audiences. This support provides the consistency and continuity needed to ensure that all Office of Communications functional teams and internal collaborators are aware of and utilizing digital media best practices to respond to partner and stakeholder requests. Primary/Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions): Support Digital Communications Use storytelling and communication skills to develop multimedia products used to share NASA’s Glenn’s story with public audiences. Product types may include short-form videos, animations, infographics, GIFs, interactive content, and apps. Works collaboratively with web editors, writers, and digital communications lead to create exciting and fresh content to engage NASA audiences on digital platforms. Construct storyboards for review; edit short-form audio and videos; create interactive graphics and visualizations; prepare files for posting on web and social media platforms; and publish final products in social media management system and/or directly via social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube). Possess design and storytelling abilities and experience with multimedia tools and technology. Maintain knowledge of new and emerging digital communication and social media technologies and advise on best practices and implementation strategies. Assists in conceptualizing, designing, and implementing creative and compelling digital products/content for NASA’s public audiences. Assists in developing promotional materials for events and activities open to external audiences. Assists in development of digital communication campaigns. Maintain knowledge of agency design standards and requirements and conform to industry best practices. Ability to take complex concepts/ topics and present them visually to a public audience. Proficiency in editing and design software including Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator. Support Virtual Public Engagement Activities Coordinate with Glenn subject matter experts (SMEs), and external partners to create and distribute online public engagement content to include virtual tour videos, virtual presentations, and other live digital engagement activities. Coordinate with OCOMM Public Engagement Team to support Great Lakes Science Center (GLSC), COSI and other virtual engagement partnership efforts. Attend meetings (as needed) with internal and external partners to discuss content collaborations for virtual public engagement, speaking opportunities and online events. Provide guidance (technology and best practices) to SMEs on how to create videos and content from home. Research and identify software, digital platforms, tools, and technologies needed to host high-quality virtual public engagement events, ensuring all recommended platforms are approved for use by NASA employees on government-issued devices. Provide moderation, monitoring and technical support for live broadcasts on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and other social media platforms. Participation in technical and dress rehearsals for live online events. Provide advice and best practices related to social media. Attend meetings to coordinate virtual public engagement efforts with multiple teams including OCOMM Public Engagement Team and others as needed. Document actions and take notes. Provide biweekly status report (verbal or written) to Digital Communications Lead and/or contract management. Support Implementation of the Virtual Public Engagement Plan Coordinate with Glenn’s Office of STEM Engagement (OSTEM) and other Glenn subject matter experts (SMEs) to create and distribute NASA at Home content. Content may include: o Existing and new STEM hands-on demonstration videos and science topic talks/explanations targeted for k-12 students (Note: Demos intended for audience participation should use supplies or materials that are readily available in homes and would not require the audience to be outside of their home.) o Existing online interactive content and tutorials for STEM activities that parents and educators can do at home with students. o New videos may be recorded by the SMEs in their own homes, with editing support provided by OCOMM and/or the Imaging Technology Center (ITC). Support Coordination of ITC requests Digital imaging, video editing and livestream services in support of OCOMM products and virtual public engagement. Adhere to NASA Policies and Procedures Adherence to all NASA communications polices, style guides and guidelines. Maintain awareness of current agency communications strategies and key messaging. Maintain expert knowledge of NASA communications style guide and AP Stylebook (including annual updates). Attend weekly agency digital teleconferences. Attend periodic training on agency social media management systems and third-party social media platforms (approximately 5-8 each calendar year). Attend weekly center strategic communications meetings. Attend weekly OCOMM staff meetings. Attend bi-weekly digital team meetings. Availability to provide services during the hours of 9 a.m.—3:30 p.m. Adhere to eMITS Policies and Procedures Complies with all eMITS Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in the performance of duties under the contract. Remote, hybrid, and onsite positions the employee bears travel costs to nearest NASA Center for badging and issue of NASA IT equipment. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Digital Media, Visual Communication, Marketing, or Photography Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Lync, Teams, OneNote, One Drive), SharePoint, and Box.
