OverviewA growing equipment leasing and finance platform is seeking an Assistant Controller to join its accounting leadership team. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, this individual will play a highly visible, hands-on role across all aspects of accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, audit support, and process improvement.This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, improving processes, and taking ownership in a growing environment. The company expects this person to develop into a future Controller as the organization continues to scale.ResponsibilitiesSupport and help lead monthly and annual close processesPrepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedulesMaintain balance sheet integrity and resolve reconciling itemsSupport financial statement preparation and management reportingOversee lease receivable, funding liability, and unearned income schedulesAssist with lease accounting throughout the lease lifecycleSupport CECL and allowance methodologiesCoordinate external audit requests and documentationImprove accounting policies, procedures, and internal controlsAssist with lender reporting and covenant complianceDrive process improvements and automation initiativesPartner closely with finance leadership on accounting operations and reportingMentor and support junior accounting staffRequirementsBachelor's degree in AccountingCPA preferred5-10 years of accounting experienceExperience within equipment leasing, equipment finance, commercial lending, specialty finance, or financial services preferredStrong understanding of GAAPExperience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reportingAudit support experienceAdvanced Excel skillsStrong communication and organizational skillsAbility to operate independently in a hands-on environment
